I've done it both ways with the same great outcome every time. Majority of the time I DC overnight with a plastic cap... so I just use my body heat.. try it... you will it!!! This is the only way I DC!!!

Are you ladies doing this with or without heat and does it matter?

This is the easiest way for me to DC since reaching so deep (14+ months into my relaxer stretch). It is amazing. I have even DC'ed on dry hair with a mixture of moisture and protein conditioners on dry hair. This left my hair feeling a little on the strong side which my hair desperatley needed.

I usually alternate a moisture/protein DC treatment with a moisture treatment (on dry hair) only and this helps to keep my hair pretty strong. I rarely use shampoo anymore - mmm, maybe once every 4-8 weeks now.

Last night I shampooed, did Aphogee 2 min, then sat under the dryer with Aussie Moist for an hour. I slept with the Aussie in overnight, rinsed this AM and put my hair up into a puff. So, tonight I'll try DC'ing dry hair.

Here's My Plan:

I'm gonna DC'n on Dry Hair.

Because, I am currently using a 'Pre-Poo' Treatment of Red Palm Oil/Cream *kind of an Ojon Restorative Conditioning Treatment* that require you to use it on: dry, unwashed hair.

So, I plan to apply the Restorative Treatment (on dry unwashed hair as per the instructions), but the DC on top, Steam, Rinse and then do a lightweight finishing rinse as a quick Co-Wash.

The only time I 'really' use Shampoo is to Clarify, maybe once every 1-2 months.

Imma see how it works. Currently I DC after my Restorative Treatment & Co-Wash.

So, Imma just reverse it next week as a 'test'.

That's what I do...my regi goes something like this...

Ojon Restorative
DC mixture
steam
shampoo
co-wash
leave ins
steam again (if I feel like it/have time.)

Do you shampoo after? The reason I ask is because on "wash day" if you DC first how are you getting your scalp clean? I've always done this before but now that I am using oils & BT in my scalp I feel like I really have to wash first. *advise*? ;-)

I only DC on dry hair now. My hair loves it. I shampoo first, lightly condition with something natural that won't coat my hair and let my hair air dry. I do NOT like to shampoo after dc'ing. No matter what anyone says I feel like it's stripping all the moisture out that I just put in. Also I feel that dry dc'ing on clean hair helps the conditioner to penetrate a lot more.

It won't get through that or any cones for that matter. To me it's pointless because the cones are blocking most if not all of the moisture from penetrating. If I use cones (especially SMB) I always clarify well before dry dc'ing.

I don't like ANY product to be on my hair before dc'ing.....talk about feeling like butta after.

I don't know if I want to DC on hair that is not clean though. So does it make sense to wash my hair and let it air dry like usual (maybe with a little leave in on it, so that my hair doesn't dry to a crisp lol) and then when it gets dry do the DC? Or is that too much?

And I usually wash my hair on Saturday, so I don't mind doing the DC on Sunday if I have to. I will not have as much product buildup in my hair like usual.

I am going to try this tonight with AOHSR and Castor Oil or Olive Oil or maybe both. I just want to use up some conditioners that I've had for a while before restocking with newer/fresher ones. I hope it does my hair well in the long run too.

I love it with olive oil it was great on my hair and I was 10 weeks post..

You LHCF ladies have got my attention with this thread! I am def want to try DC'ing on dry hair as I am low maintenance and am all about simplifying my regiment (ie. jumping in and out of the shower a bunch of times, using hooded dryer). I think I am going to try it out on my wash day with my DC with oils (EVOO, EVCO, avocado), leave it in overnight, then wash the following morning with my shampoo, condish, then air dry with my leave-ins

Thats really all I wanted to say. I dont know why I havent been paying attention whenever anyone mentioned DC'ing on dry hair, but I did it for the first time today, and my hair feels like BUTTER!! I kept rinsing it for like 15 min, because it was so soft that I thought there was still product left in it! lol Im gonna try and stop myself from doing it again tonight!! I dont want my hair to get mushy but, GOOD LORD I love the feeling of soft, moisturized hair!!

This method doesn't work with all deep conditioners. I've used the Ojon Hair Treatment on dry/dirty hair and left it on overnight. It seems to work with no problems, but it's meant to be used like this.

I applied my Goldwell protein deep treatment the same way and left it on for several hours, shampooed it out, then left a moisturizing deep conditioner on overnight. My hair seems to be okay, but I prefer to do it the old fashioned way - clarify, add protein deep treatment, use heat for 20 minutes, follow with a moisturizing deep treatment for 20 minutes, then rinse.

I mean it could have worked, but my demi-color might be throwing results off. I feel the Ojon treatment is meant to be used on unwashed hair, while many others are supposed to be used on clean.

I'm glad many people are finding success with this method. When my demi-color fades I'll try it again.

Ok Ladies, I have a question:

Are you DC'ing on "Clean" Dry Hair? For instance, today is Friday, since Monday, I have been moisturizing my and sealing my hair daily with moisturizer and oil. Sometimes in between i may apply gel or some other styling agent to my air.

So when Saturday rolls around and I want to DC on dry hair, would I do this on my 'dirty' dry hair?

So again, is everyone DC'ing with 100% clean hair or hair that is not quite clean?

I always do it on not so clean hair. I don't usually wash it first to get it clean before the DC. It works great regardless though. HTH!

Tried it today, but was not impressed. I put ORS Replenishing on my hair and slept overnight. It was soft, but nothing impressive.

I DC on dry hair for the first time last night and my hair has never been softer!! I used Silk Elements MegaCholesterol with EVOO, EVCO, Hot 6 Oil, and avocado oil and left on overnight. Then washed out in the morning with CON shampoo followed by CON condish. Then put in my leave-ins and now airdrying using the scarf method. I still can't get over how soft my hair is! Definitely softer than when I DC after washing. I will like to make this a regular part of my regiment since it is so much faster/more convenient than DC after shampooing using a hooded dryer (no showering twice!!).

My only concern is keeping the plastic wrap on my head while I sleep. I woke up in the middle of the night to find it (I used saran wrap) half off my head and my satin cap with condish/oils. Icky! If I get good hair results, then I may have to sacrifice a messy pillow and face. Any suggestions?

I would usually use a plastic cap, secured by a stocking cap and then I would put my satin cap over both of them. The stocking cap helps to stop the scrunching sound of the plastic cap while I move around in my sleep.

Oh my. This must be the best discovery ever!

I have conditioned on dry hair before, so when I saw this thread a couple of days ago, I was not too interested. However, yesterday afternoon I applied a conditioner that is meant for DC (AOHSR) from root to tip. Then I added olive oil over the conditioner. Steamed for 20 minutes then put on a plastic cap to keep my hair wet while I was finishing my show. Got into the shower, and rinsed it well. My hair was soft, really, so soft that I thought I still had the DC in there. WOW.

After I got out of the shower, I twisted my hair into medium twists (I wash and condition in large/medium twists. My hair is the type that can't be wet and loose at the same time) And it dried soft too!

Today, my hair is still feeling amazing.

Okay! I learned two things:

1. Dry DC does better if I'm not working with 1 weeks worth of product. I washed it after 3 days.

2. Vatika oil overnight followed by more Vatika, a plastic cap, and 20 minutes under the dryer makes my curls nice and soft. Not amazing, but good enough for me to do this again.

DC on dry hair again today. This time since I was pressed for time and couldn't DC overnight, I DC'ed with 30 minutes under hooded dryer (this time with Keracare Humecto mixed with Roux Porosity and several oils). Was worried that I would get the same results as I did the first time I DC on dry hair. After washing out followed by shampooing with CON (only needed to shampoo once since I got great suds immediately!) and a quick conditioner, my hair came out super soft! Will never DC on wet hair again!

I have seen it listed as a moisturizing deep conditioner. Then again when i think cholesterol, I think protein. But for me, it's very moisturizing and doesn't have a protein like feel on my hair. I have used Aphogee 2 min reconstructor (in the past) as well as Aphogee 2 step protein which makes my hair hard/dry. HTH!

Tried it last night on clean hair. It was kind of a pain to shampoo, air dry, apply conditioner, sit under dryer, shampoo again but my hair came out nice. I may try it on towel dried hair the next time to speed up the process a bit.
