Do 4ab long hair ladies shampoo less?

I am 4a myself and I noticed overall that 4ab ladies with bra strap or longer hair types may wash less frequently ... Perhaps every 2 weeks to minimize dryness and breaking off of the hair... They also tend to moisturize and seal regularly while wearing their hair in protective styles Do you notice the same thing?

(I shampoo my hair once a week, by the way, though I think I can get away with going longer than that most times.)

Yeah, a poll would be good. I don't know about 4a/b, but I'm 4c and I don't shampoo my hair. Stopped a long time ago. I shampoo my scalp (diluted poo in applicator bottle) & co-wash the length.

4c. Shampoo 2x a month to chelate and clarify. The rest is cowashing and ayurvedic cleansing

I'm 4b, 2 inches from BSL and I don't do any of those things. I must shampoo my scalp twice a week in the hotter months or else it will go AWOL. And I rarely M&S inbetween washes because I'm a heavy sealer. Cowashing is always a bad experience unless I'm using a product with a cleansing agent.
I think OP most 4s can get away with not shampooing for over a week, but not me.

I'm almost mid back length and it is very important to wash your hair with shampoo at least once a week. Your scalp is also something that is important to clean. My leave in is watered down, and I use it every day so remember you need a clean scalp and water sealed in with oil. Please do not be afraid to wash your hair.

I'm 4A MBL and I shampoo once a week. No problems or complaints for me. I also M&S daily.

I'm 4a I think and I'm not bsl but split and I cowash every week for 3 weeks and the fourth I clarify. That fourth week is the day I experience the most tangles because I clarify. But I clarify with acv rinse and any cleansing agent makes my hair tangle no matter how I keep it going one way. It's usually my length and not my new growth

Do you just mix the Clay with water and that's it bellebebe. I saw it recently in a store for 10$ in a container. How does it feel after using that alone. Can you use it on relaxed hair or will it caused relaxed hair to tangle?

My clay mix consists of ACV, EVOO, & a bit of water. I like the consistency to be like a paste. I then apply it like a relaxer, but I lather it on my scalp too. last time I added coconut milk, but that's optional. After the application, I sit underneath the hooded dryer for 15 minutes.

After I rinse it out, I spray ACV onto my scalp & hair, rinse it out and then I apply conditioner. It sounds like a lot, but It REALLY keeps my hair from tangling. My shedded hairs just slide right off the strands. This is my hair's favorite potion.

I would love to go to shampooing once every two weeks, but my scalp won't let me go more than 1 week without shampoo. Also, my hair gets dry by a week.

I am inching a lil past tailbone length with 5 months of new growth poppin. But I cut my wash days back to once every two weeks about 3 months ago, instead of weekly. I felt washing every week was beginning to put too much stress on my hair, given the fact im still trying to recover thickness lost from a postpartum/post-surgical shed a year or so ago.

I apply diluted shampoo to my scalp only (half dollar-sized dollop diluted in an applicator bottle with 8 to 9 ounces equal parts AVJ + water), and heavily condition the ends. I heavily seal the length after using the LCO/S method, and tend to apply an herbal oil to my scalp. Oh and I love an ACV + cool water rinse last after rinsing out my conditioner. Keeps the itchies from coming up a week later. The herbal oil helps this too.

I moisturize several times a week, and always have my hair up. Just a preferred style for me. I guess going more than 1 week is fine if your scalp isnt oily, you dont workout, or perspire much, and your hair isnt breakng due to lack of more frequent protein and moisture. These things apply to me.

Besides, I personally found that even co-washing too much can drastically thin your hair from combing to detangle (even though I use good quality seamless combs, my hair is fine in texture, and doesnt like a whole lotta manipulation). Im not one of those who can wash my hair with or without shampoo and not comb it out afterwards...and I mean a thorough comb out, or Im asking for mats.

I am 4b and I shampoo once a week, I focus on my scalp like virtuenow said. I tried shampooing only once a month for a while but I also suffer from severe dandruff so that was not a good idea for the long run.

with highly textured 4 type hair BSL or longer the less munipulation is better. I am MBL and when I was relaxed straight BSB I used to wash once a week and throw in a co wash when I wanted. Even when I was more than 1/2 my head texturized @ BSL I did wash once a week but did not hesitiate to go longer if my hair didn't need it. Now that I'm 9 months post, I'm doing everything to stretch my wash day to 2x monthly, using less products to prevent buildup, steam in the middle of the week in a pony tail to add moisture/prevent dryness . For 1 - the less munipulation is best at the demarcation line & 2- I tention dry my newgrowth to stretch it out to lessen the tangles and make styling easier so that's more time and 3- I have a 4yr old with HIP length hair that I have to care for as well.

I wash every two weeks. Washing more frequently causes tangles and knots. Plus I don't sweat much so I can go that long without my scalp or hair developing an odor. I washed more often when my hair was short, but washing at this length is time consuming and I find that frequent washing/wetting just isn't necessary for me.

I am 4a/b, in between APL and BSL, and I wash every two weeks. I try to steam once per week between washings. As I have said a million times, I do everything in 8 braids...wash, condition, moisturize and seal, etc. so I don't have any tangling issues.

I only poo' once a month and use Cleansing conditioners (with viable surfactants) to cleanse for the remaining wash days. I can wash anywhere from 2-4 times a month depending on whether I'm utilizing heat.

I poo when my scalp gets too dirty....so about once a month. I think I may start co washing in between... I am primarily using KeraCare products right now...and their sulfate free poo makes me want to wash more often...it detangles so well on its own.

My natural hair is not long yet!!! But I'm happy to see that a lot of 4's are washing once a week. I have gone back and forth during my natural journey with how often I should be washing my hair. I have tried once every two weeks, and even in my relaxed days I tried going longer than two weeks just to keep down the manipulation.

What I have found out is that once a week works well for my hair relaxed or natural. As my hair grows and gets longer, I'm hoping to be able to continue the once a week wash process.

I'm only APL, but I'm 4a and shampoo my hair 1-2 times per week and cowash at least once per week. My scalp would mount a rebellion if I tried to go once a month like some ladies are able to do! Plus, I exercise 4-5 days per week, so I have to get the sweat off of my scalp.

week 2: Co-Cleanse
week 3: Co-Cleanse or Sulfate Free Shampoo, depending what my hair needs
week 4: Co-Cleanse

My hair is 4a, low density, and uneven, between apl and bsb.
