Because my hair is short im not able to do protective styles yet so my only hope is to go out with my hair wrapped but i feel so bad when i do. i just dont feel right.

No I don't. I see lots of women out and about with their hair wrapped, tied up with their head scarfs, rollers, etc....

IMO...they can atleast take a few minutes to bump it with some curls or something instead of going out like that.

Thats y I wear wigs I ps 100% of the time and still dont have to look like I am. I baggy, and DC all day and no one can tell

i will put a hat on if i have a plastic cap or my hair is wrapped. i will have my scarf on then i will put on my hat. just get you a nice everyday hat and keep it moving. now i will got out with some rollers if i need to make a quick run.

I wore my head scarf out in public when I work out at 6:30 in the morning. I feel conflicted about it. I need to work out but I don't want to workout in my wig and I am not wearing cornrows out in public. So pink bandana it is. I keep my head down so I don't make eye contact with any one.

In my opinion, short hair is a protective style.

I personally don't see the need for leaving the house with a plastic bag. If you don't feel right, you don't have to do it.

Ive gone out while baggying my hair - under a beanie... but I was so self conscious I was a bunch of nerves, never again.

I think i feel self-conscious also. i dont make eye contact and i pray i dont see anyone i know.

If you don't feel right..don't do it.

I for one believe that scarves are stylish if they are worn a certain way. So..if I was DCing and had to run an errand real quick, I would wear a scarf or beanie and a nice pair of earrings.

I have...all the time! But I live in NYC, and that's just standard issue here.
Lol, same here! I was just walking in brooklyn the other day and I had a conditioner cap, a doo rag, and a hat over my hair so I could keep it moisturized. It wasn't in a style decent enough o be worn out, I was in a rush, plus I planned on doing a HOT when I got home. As long as you cover the bag and don't come outside with a satin cap on (that's just tacky) then I think it's fine.

I only use plastic caps for conditioning treatments like henna and most of the time I just stay home till I'm done. I'm fine wearing head wraps and hats, etc., just not about smothering my scalp any longer than I have to.

Generally, it's not my style; but in a pinch, I'll wear a hat over the baggy. When I was relaxed, I never wore my wrap out and uncovered.

Never

No plastic shower caps, rollers, wraps, saran wrap, towel, bonnet, scarf tied in the front or hair prep "style".

I would never wear my hair in a shower cap. As a matter of fact I didn't even let the men in my house see me in a plastic cap when I was living at home. I did my hair in my bathroom/bedroom upstairs.

I don't know how to wrap hair but I would never wear my hair wrapped in public either.

No shade to those who do. I am sure you look just fine. :look:

LOL! No we don't, but ain't no one gettin all pretty just to walk to the bodega down the block...unless you tryin to catch a man, lookin cute that is! :lachen::lachen:

All. the. time!

Although, you won't see it. My baggied head will be covered with a wig, cap, or decorative scarf. I especially like covering my baggy with a black satin cap and then covering that with one of those colored heavy nets (I prefer black tho). I push it back so that and inch or two of my front part is showing. Then it looks intentional. I often wrap my baggied head in decorative wraps too, throw on some interesting earrings and keep it moving.

I think as long as it looks intentional, you're fine. And if your face is on point with some cute accessories, you won't look crazy.

Ya won't catch me in a straight up kerchief scarf tho. And no rollers unless I can disguise 'em in a Marley hat or something. But that's a real stretch for me.

No...for all the same reasons diadall listed.

I was just at the gym with a friend and they had their hair in flexi rods under a beanie. I made sure not to be on the elliptical next to her. :look:

i used to go out in bonnets and baggies. now idk what i was thinking. i cringe when i think of the days i went out like that. i will sometimes go out w. a head scarf on or a beanie.

MrsJaiDiva, talk for yourself. I think I look hawt in my headwraps. I wouldn't be wearing them if I thought otherwise. If I leave home, even if to others I look crazy, you can bet your bottom dollar, that according to Nonie, I's sizzling. Even my Coolio do looked good when I left home before pookaloo83 saw it. It got bad over time, so I feigned being happy with it (but even *I* knew it looked crazy then but what to do.) Truth be told, I'd never have left home with it looking like that.

So yes, the wraps I wear outside my home are wraps I do and feel very good about. Heck, I love them so much I shared photos on this forum.

:lachen::lachen: Haaa....I mean, you know we're still cute enough to catch a number ...but you're not going to undo your wrap just to go to the bodega. That's trying too hard! :lachen: I seriously cannot imagine taking my hair out just to do a store run or something....that's the beauty of livin in NYC I guess. :yep:

I wouldn't dare. I'm the one that life's most embarrassing moments waits for like "you thought you'd get away with that beoich?!"

*cough* Today I:

Wore Mega-Tek, 2 Plastic Caps, a Wig Cap and a Wig to werk.

It was in the mid 70's today.

DC'ed all day (at werk) with M/T and came home and Steamed.

Will do this again early/mid Fall.

I live in a small town where everybody knows everybody and I just know if I went out like that I would run into somebody I went to school with or an ex, so I just cant :nono:. I have been getting into scarves as a hair accessory though and I think I can hang with that. So far Ive only worn them as headbands, but I think I could venture into tying them different ways. Naptural85 on youtube recently put out a cool video on different ways to wear scarves.

like someone said above, I think its ok if it looks intentional lol. Im also going to snag a few snoods you can always leave a little hair out in the front and tuck the back and put a snood over it for a quick on the run style. I dont think I could incorporate the baggy though, I would be afraid people would hear me turning my head or reaching up to scratch it, etc. I guess Im just too self conscious for that!
