Do you mix deep conditioners?

I know from posts that I have read , some members regularly mix conditioners. I wanted to get a better sense of why and how do you know which ones to mix together? I actually did this for the first time yesterday when I didn't have enough of my ORS mayonnaise, (of course I discovered this after shampooing my hair). It turned out that I had a small amount of ORS Replenishing conditioner as well, so I mixed the together. I never would have done this if I had enough of either conditioner.

A few posts that I remember also discussed adding oils to conditioners. I would really be interested in in getting more information on your special treatments
 
No. If I have to mix something the product is not for me.

Im a minority though; I see plenty of posts/threads with posters saying they mix their conditioners. Im not about that life :lol:
 
I don't mix conditioners unless it's like a small sample packet and I mix it with a regular conditioner I use . But I think a conditioner should be get enough by itself or I will never purchase again
 
I do. It stretches my deep conditioners and I steam them all in. Sometimes it's oil, deep conditioner and a mask, or sometimes it's just two treatments. I've always done it but only when I'm steaming.
 
When I was relaxed I had a good stash of butters and oils and mixed them with my conditioners forva dc (I used gvp conditioning balm, vo5, silk elements and lustrasilk. When I went natural it just didn't work for me and I needed heavier conditioners with more surfactants like,btms
 
Yup! usually happens when i have a little conditioner left and I want to use it up.
 
I do because I want to stretch out the product or if I just want to add something that I feel it is needed such as honey, oils or silk amino acids.
 
I haven't yet, but want to start doing so when I just want a pinch of protein added to a more moisturizing conditioner. I don't know if it will work they way I want it to.
 
I will mix the remnants of leftover DCs together in order to create enough product for one application. I also routinely add carrier and EOs to my DCs. It’s an extremely rare occurrence for me to encounter a DC that performs well without any additions.

There are those that maintain balance by adding a splash of a mild to moderate reconstructor to their moisturizing DCs, which eliminates an extra step for protein on wash day.
 
I mix just because. The two work pretty well separately, but one has more natural "oils" in it so I get better benefits. And the other smells better lol. Best of both worlds!

I mix my pre poo as well. That's just a mix of every single spare conditioner I had that was running low while I was cleaning off my dresser. Seriously, the thing has like 8 different conditioners in it.
 
Like many others replied, I mix my conditioners (really all products) for a variety of reasons, namely:
-not enough product for an application
-product is lacking in one or several ways
-experimenting
Though I agree with someone up thread. Products I have to "fix" are not slated for repurchase. On the other hand, something super cheap that's missing something small and is otherwise great I will make an exception for! :-)
 
It's not my norm. I, much like SuchaLady, feel the product is not for me if I have to mix. However, I will mix in extra goodies (oil & honey) to maximize performance. The conditioners that require mixing likely won't make the repurchase list and would never make the staple list.
 
The only thing I will do is add some honey for extra moisture if I'm straightening my hair. Other than that, nah. I'm too lazy for all that

If my conditioner doesn't work well alone and leaves my hair hard, then I'll mix a moisturizing conditioner with it. I won't repurchase a conditioner if it doesn't work well alone or without additional oil(s).

Or if I don't have enough conditioner left to saturate my hair, then I'll add another one with it.
 
I was under the impression that ther were a lot of "mixologists" on the forum. It seems that most of us are just adding a dab or stretching when you don't have enough for one application.

If you are adding oils, what type do you add?

I use the most emollient, nutritive oils in my arsenal since they’re spending an extended amount of time on my hair and scalp. I primarily use babassu, castor, hempseed, JBCO, HBCO, jojoba, pumpkin, bergamot, carrot seed, clary sage and rosemary.
 
I'll mix conditioners sometimes if there's only a little bit left and it won't cover all my hair. I'll mix it with my favorite oil, coconut milk, agave nectar, another conditioner... whatever I have lying around that I know is good for my hair.
 
I usually add honey, peppermint, rosemary, and eucalyptus oils. I like to give my conditioners a little extra boost. I also mix conditioners if I am running low on one. I will mix it with another one to use it up.
 
Nope. I Don't mix.

I primarily use Handmade/Naturals and judge the products based on the description/ingredients listed.

If I have to add & mix, I don't need to be spending the money on it.

That's not what I'm paying for.

But I will combine 2 things if the jar is almost empty.

Let me clarify, I dont mix them together. I apply one and then the other on top of my hair. Almost like a sealing method, then I steam.
 
If the jar is almost empty, then probably, but that means I have no backup and that's not normal for me. For the most part, I will add oils and even that's not an all the time thing. I use to mix a lot when I used ground products, but when I starting using more natural products, I haven't really had too.

Only if I don't have enough for a complete application. If a deep conditioner doesn't work on its own then it's not worth my money
 
I sometimes add oils but I do not mix DCs with DCs. My favorite oils to mix in are avocado and grapeseed. I may also add a few drops of peppermint, lavender, and/or rosemary.
