I have a problem, my hair has been really dry lately. I DC and Co wash but for some reason its crispy its only been this past week. I currently use ORS carrot oil and its doing nothing for me. Can anyone recommend anything rich full of moisture? I would greatly appreciate it

Thanks

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: ORS Olive Oil Moisturizing lotion is the bomb!

If that doesn't work for you, I say try some pure oils, like the carrot or olive oil (liquid) that comes in small containers by Hollywood Beauty. I think they're like, $5 or less at Longs Drugs. My scalp gets really dry toward the front of my hair line, so I just dab on a little bit of the olive oil by hollywood beauty, and it knocks it right out. The best thing about those oils is that they are easily absorbed into the hair and scalp, so you're not left feeling super greasy.

I LOVE Profective Megagrowth Lotion. Nice, ceamy, and full of moisture!! Also remember that oils don't moisterize. They seal in moisture. You need a water based moisterizer and then follow up with an oil. HTH!

Thats what I need a water base i know the part about the sealing. But I have been doing the ORS carrot oil which is water base, then sealing with JBCO or Vatika but its still leaves me crispy.

Mix Profectv Healthy Ends with a dab of Profectiv Breakfree and baggy.

I was thinking about profectiv.... Im hitting rite aid tomorrow. my so just told me m hair is crispy... (like I did not know):(

After cowashing and deep conditioning, I like to apply ample amounts of avocado butter to the length of my hair and the ends and then seal with avocado oil. My hair drinks the moisture right up and the oil adds a nice shine once my hair has airdried! Never dry or crispy when I use this method! Best of all, it's light and natural... I would definitely recommend this to you! :)

My top of the line moisturizer for dry hair is Ultra Black Hair Creme Lotion Moisturizer: this stuff does nothing but make my hair soft: wet or dry: but if to not over moisturize my hair if its already soft I use Lacio Lacio (expensee) or NTM Leave-in (cheapee).

actually, no I haven't tried any butters other than avocado...I bought it after seeing so many rave reviews of it here on LHCF and I haven't looked back since! It just works that well! Here's hoping you love it as much as I do ;)

there's a thread about the Red Palm Oil somewhere on here...

lately every night i've been misting my hair with water, applying a little VO5 Strawberries & Cream condish, and sealing with Vatika Oil. My hair feels super soft in the morning and stays silky soft and moist all day.

OMg Im loving the advice. I have been trying new products and yet Im still having moisture issues. a few minutes ago i just whipped out my trusty tub of shea :D and dug in. I always use it for body never hair lets see how it feels in the morning. The ideas for moisturizers and the misting too... Im stretching my relaxer and Im at 7 weeks... lawwd help me..

Diya where do you get your avocado butter from?

But to answer OP question...Elasta QP mango butter is my staple

My hair was feeling ruff this morning, so I decided to try avocado butter, coconut oil cream, and shea butter, each on 3 different section of hair. Avocado butter won, that section of hair was so soft with a nice sheen!! Shea butter close behind. Coconut just kinda sat on top of my hair BLINGING!! Now if you ever looking for a oil that will give you some BLING, get some coconut oil!

I also loooove Stay-soft fro (staple). I just re-discovered Long Aid Activator Gel I will use this with the avocado butter.

Hi! Sorry to hear about your moisture problems...tryin to reach the root of the problem...have you considered doing a protein treatment or clarifying? Maybe having a different moisturizer isn't the problem; your hair may have trouble retaining moisture. If you're just having moisture problems, then maybe you can get away with a light/moderate protein. If you're breaking and shedding, maybe a strong one would work.

I use NTM Silk Touch. I know I need some protein when no matter how much or how many times I moisturized, my hair was dry and hard. So I clarified with Keracare 1st Lather to remove any build-up (that can also dry your hair out) then used Aphogee. HTH

Yea, this happened to me when my normal moisturizer wasn't working. Have you used any strong protein treatment before? If not, then I would say start with a moderate one, like Nexxus Emergency or something.

Also clarifying and protein treatments are very drying to the hair, especially to do in one wash session. I do it, but I know my hair can handle it, so maybe you should try to clarify first...THEN if retaining moisture is a problem, then do your protein treat. Make sure to follow your clarifying shampoo with a moisturizing one and follow up with an intense deep conditioning after Aphogee. I hope you get to the root of the problem!

I decided to wash with baking soda only (thanks redhotlala) and use porosity control.. I came out with my hair tangle free and clean I lost 5 hairs... i have 1 inch of new growth and i was able to comb thru it with no issue.. I put in a little salerm and I put it in a bun to air dry. a little later i will apply a little shea butter... Thanks to redhotlala I will never use shampoo again...

Qhemet's Sidhr Tree Butter Balm is great (medium consistency, will keep your hair feeling moisturized for a couple of days), Qhemet's Amla & Olive Heavy Cream (very thick, only need a dab because a little goes a long way).

Honestly, I recommend all of Qhemet's moisturizers. She sells a sample pack at her website: www.qhemetbiologics.com

Also, I agree with the other ladies on avocado butter, sometimes I mix it with a little bit of coconut oil or olive or joboba oil and use on my ends.

I know alot of ladies on here still say that oils moisturize...they only lubricate the hair...meaning oils will give you that smooth, silky, polished finish use ladies die for:D I'm not saying that oils aren't absorbed in the hair they jus can't moisturize...it is extremely good to use them as a sealent... water based products are only be considered as a MOISTuizer!! (First ingredient)

* I love B&B oil moisturizers( especially the one in the pink and white bottle it's thick and it contains castor oil.*
* if you do not like the heaviness of the product they have another brand that is great that has much lighter oils in it.*

HTH!!:)
