Sorry I missed these posts. I bought a new brand of Sweet Almond Oil today and I LOVE IT! IT SMELLS SO GOOOOOOD! :lick::lick::lick: Not the faint scent of the Now brand, although it's still a nice brand. I like the consistency of the Now brand better I think. It's more watery. This one is a tad bit thicker. This is the oil used in Jergens soap I just know it! Because it smells just like it. :yep: :lick:

The brand name is International Collection here is the website (I also bought Walnut Oil, Grapeseed Oil and Sesamie Oil. The website has a list of stores that carry it.

It's a glass bottle:

I think I saw this just a lil while ago at the store when I bought my grapeseed oil. I resisted the PJ urge to pick up some, but now you have me planning my trip to the grocers. I can add this to my new year retention plan. if it seals well and keeps the hair soft, it should do wonders for my ends.

Hi. I used sweet almond oil for a while. I just recently ran out of it (I only had a 20ml size). In my opinion, it performs similarly to coconut oil, but not as well. It's a good oil, though. My hair doesn't react well to most oils, and this oil sealed my hair without any averse affects, but it didn't soften and smooth my hair as much as coconut oil does. I personally won't be repurchasing it because it is quite expensive, but it is a nice, lightweight oil that can be used for all over the body.

It's not anything special for me but I have a no-name one that someone brought me from ivory coast!!
maybe i should use a name brand one lol

I wonder if the organic version has a more almond scent? Have you tried organic. The one I have has a very distinct scent that's addictive. If you just sniff from the bottle you won't smell it but if you put some on your hands then it's the scent hits you and you can't help but smile and hug yourself. But then it fades. :ohwell: I mixed some with coconut oil, castor oil and olive oil. It's a great combo, I used it as an overnight pre-poo treatment. I also but some on my arms and my skin has a sweet scent. :lick:

Sorry Curlymoo to reply so late! I've only just seen your message! lol.
No I haven't tried the organic one. That one might be better as long as it is not refined. One of the ways in which you can tell is that it says it should be used for salads and dressings. The refined one says that it's good for cooking and frying.

The organic one you have sounds lovely!
And it seems it's better for almond oil to be used overnight as a pre-poo because it needs some heat in order to penetrate. It's not like EVOO, avocado or coconut oils that are able to penetrate the hair shaft regardless - almond oil must be forced in by heat or overnight pre-poo / baggy treatment.

Anyway, hope this is still of use to you and I'm sorry again!

hi CurlyMoo! how do you use your walnut oil?
i've got some sitting around but am not quite sure how to use it efficiently...
thanks!

I prefer Kukui oil, it's just as light and beautiful for both skin and hair.

i know this is about the almond oil, but since Cream Tee bought up the kukui i have to add that i, too love that oil!

i've used it to help detangle my hair after poo ing and dc ing and it works like a wonder!

the almond oil i put directly into my perm for my most recent self relaxer and i've never had such fabulous results! my hair did not dry out!

i also use almond oil to remove my makeup.

I do, and I love it!

I mix it with other oils for my hot oil treatments - use it on my hair and ends in between washings, and I also mix it in conditioners. It is very softening, it absorbs well, and seals in moisture well.

i use sweet almond oil either for a prepoo. But mostly its to make my hair cream. i mix pur shea butter with sweet almond oil to make a smooth consistance. Fells good and feeds my hair good. i use it evry day in the morning when i wear my hair out (makes it soft)
