Does heat set curls in your dry hair?

I seem to remember an old post where someone said that in order to curl their hair after pressing/blow drying, instead of using a curling iron, they roll it up with soft rollers and the sit under the dryer for about 5 minute and that locks in the curls. Does anyone use this method? How do the curls hold up? I don't really like the look of bone straight hair and I always want some curl, but after the other heat applications, I'd like an alternative to using a blow drying. Thanks!

I don't think that would work unless you used some sort of setting lotion on it, or slept in the curlers overnight.
