Okay...so i wanna know what can i do to get slick, smooth, moisturized edges.
I use 100% Shea butter and coconut oil to moisturize and seal. I use Jam but none of this is working out....what do you ladies do for this?

The Jam is most likely drying your edges out. Some members here use aloe vera gel and glycerine. But I think that you have to be careful with glycerine because it can back fire.

I've heard people on the board claim that shea butter dries their hair out. Not in my experience but maybe it could be the case for you...

I use a leave in first. Whatever you use is good....then a little bit of moisturizing cream, a lot of shea butter. When you tie it down overnight, it should get super soft!

I wet with water and apply a little Giovanni Direct Leave-in & SheaMoisture Shea Butter Leave In to my edges every night before putting on my scarf for bed.... In the morning my edges have shine, they are smooth and laying flat.

I've been wanting to try that Giovanni Leave-In for a while. Thanx for the info!

The shea Butter keeps my hair moist....but i think...like one of the ladies said...that the Jam is drying out my edges....because i only use it on my edges.

Maybe i should try PLASTERING them down with shea butter every night! :lachen:....that should do the trick....huh?

I'm welcome to more suggestions! TIA!

The products that work on keeping my edges soft & smooth are:

Ojon styling paste, Jane Carter Nourish and Shine, Castor oil & stretchy scarfs!

i use keracare hair stick. it is a wax stick. try a moisturizing pomade. Aveda has something too that comes in a jar, but i forgot the name. castor oil is pretty thick too. mix some castor oil with aloe vera gel and that should do the trick.

Yeah I think that shea can be moisturizing at first but for me too much causes dry hair (like if I use it every other night for my ends). You may want to dry just water, a little moisturizing leave in. Or the latter two plus a moisturizing gel like substance like Oyin's products, mango & lime gel which I believe is mostly natural or another all natural pomade that is moisturizing and not drying. I have used both Oyin and the Mango product in the past but the pj in me is ready to try a new product so am also open for suggs.
