Hi Ladies,
I have been lurking around this site obtaining valuable information on growing
my hair. THANKS FOR ALL THE INFO

I have not had a relaxer since Oct 2004. I have kept my hair in two strand
twist or just out. On July 7 I took out my twist and did the big chop. I love
my natural hair. It is about 2-4inches overall. This is where I need the
advice: 1)I have a spot on the back of my head that is baby smooth. The
hair is gone. Any suggestions on getting the spot to grow back? 2) I had
my ends trimmed after the BC but they are still dry and knot at the ends,
any products I could use or do I need to cut it again? I got about 1in trimmed.

I have been condition washing every day and I use shea butter.

Congratz on your BC!!

I have a spot like that too, right at the nape. I dont know if it was because its naturally thin or because of relaxer damage. I asked my mom about it but she doesnt remember. The hair that is growing in is getting length but its still very thin and very soft. My hair is much finer than the rest in the back and especially at the nape, so it might just be the natural texture. Hopefully it will thicken up but I havent relaxed in over a year and there hasnt been much change.

If you have build up you may need to clarify, try using an acv rinse and see if your conditioner works better. Try the nourish conditoner from trader joes. It's mostly organic ingredients and it made my hair feel very soft.

If its scab hair you may just have to wait until it grows out. I had either scab hair or heat damage and after about 9-10 mos of newgrowth the hair texture growing in is much softer and smoother. You can tell a difference from it and the rest of my hair even tho its all natural. As far as styling products try qhemet biologics, order their sample pack and see how you like it. Those were the first products that worked for me after I went natural and I really like them. They also leave your hair very soft. I normally mix them with a curl activator gel. Myhoneychild.com and other products get good reviews too but I havent tried them yet. I tried using shea but it was too heavy for my hair. I like coconut oil better. You will find what works for you too, it just takes time. :)

Here is the review I did for qhemet products. I they also have a new heavy cream i like but i've been too lazy to review:

I had the same problem also. I think it was scab hair so I started trimming very slowly the areas with the splits and knots. I still get knots, I think that is just going to happen but I don't get as many of them. I also don't get as many split ends. I found that putting something heavier on the ends helped a lot. I used butters (avocado, shea) mixed with a little coconut oil worked the best. Also how I put my products on made a difference. I have to squeeze it pretty well all the way to the tips instead of just slathering it on. That has helped my ends a lot as well. hth

BTW...Congrats on your BC!! :D
