Glycerin good or bad?

Is Glycerin good or bad for our hair? I just purchased Humectress and Glycerin is the second ingredient. I remember reading a few things on the board about glycerin not being good, but I see a lot of people using it. Could you guys break down the pros and cons of Glycerin?

Not good for me. My hair gets dry & sometimes sticky when I try & use this or something like StaSofFro.

I have not had good experience with glycerin if used alone mixed with water or in a gel form (clear gels). It makes my hair soft yes, but frizzy and it looks mad dry. My hair is relaxed.

My hair loves glycerine, but then again, my hair loves all the wrong stuff! Try a patch test on yr hair to see how it responds. If it's dull and dry, you can sell the glycerine to us!

if you live in a dry climate it can be bad. it's a humectant so it draws moisture into your hair. if the climate is dry and it has no outside moisture to draw from, it will turn and suck the moisture out of your hair.

i think it would work well for those in humid areas.

My hair loves glycerin. I spray my hair with african royale daily doctor mixed w/ water. It's good stuff.

ok, that's likely what happened to me in the NY winters when I thought glycerin would make moister.

This is so funny. I live in NYC and it has done the same exact thing to my hair year round! I still have a bit of glycerin that I have not finished. How can I get rid of it? Perhaps dumping it in my conditioners? I tried using a tiny bit mixed with water and it did not work too well.

I consider glycerin a good ingredient. If it is the 2nd or 3rd ingredient then i consider it to be good. BUT for some reason....my hair does not like Scurl or any of those types of moisturizers. it breaks my hair off and makes it look dry and frizzy. I've never mixed glycerin myself, but overall i like it....

I'm in Connecticut and it definitely gets humid here. My hair just doesn't like it. Also, it doesn't take much for my hair to start looking dry

it works great on my hair- i live in northern virginia and my hair loves it- it keeps my hair moisturized all day and i am currently experiencing a growth spurt.

I live in Washington DC and my hair loves glycerin. It gets pretty humid here in the summer but in the winter I stay in dry, heated places and glycerin is the only thing that keeps my ends from being crunchy.
