@ScorpioLove I bought the microscope on Black Friday, but only just took it out of the box today. Mainly because I was afraid of what I was going to see. :sad:

But I don't think that it's too bad and I enjoy seeing what the photographs reveal. At this point, I can either introduce suds back into my routine or keep on going as is.

Last night I pre-pooed wtih babassu oil. I covered my hair with a plastic cap. I'm assuming that what I'm seeing on my scalp are oil and water deposits, even though I put the oil on my hair. (I have to play around with the microscope a bit more, but I'm assuming that the thinner strands are new hairs.)

This morning, I used a DIY ayurvedic mask that I find works for "removing" build up. My scalp was still a bit damp, but I think that everything looked a lot clearer.

These are still after. I can see some water, but I can also see some deposits of who knows what on a few of the strands. The places that I checked looked mostly like the pictures above.

Also, the grey hair. It's starting to come in. :cry3: It looks like polar bear hair. I think it will be neat to take a look at my scalp after using different masks and different techniques. I've suspected that I also don't do the greatest job of rinsing my hair when I finish washing, so maybe this will help me to do better.

I have NOT forgotten. :laugh:

I have an event on the 10th (next Saturday) and so I plan on using it at the end of next week.

I need to properly detangle my hair before then.

I went back to play with my microscope and I've come to learn that I'm better at rinsing out the top of my hair than the sides and back. I'll need to work on that.

Also, when I mentioned my skin earlier, I can definitely see my age through the microscope. While people say the camera doesn't lie, that in itself is a lie. I could take pictures all day. I like the lies that it tells me. :laugh: My scalp skin looks wrinkly, too.

I'm sitting here crying into my jug of water now. This will be my motivation to stay hydrated.
 
Does anyone use coffee routinely in their regimen?
I'm thinking of adding it to mines, but not sure how to incorporate it into my regimen or if it's worth adding
Can anyone who uses it routinely share how they use coffee in their regimen and what benefits you notice from regular use? TIA! :)

Back in 2013 i used to do coffee rinses. Tbh, it probably didn't do much for my hair, the climate and consistent hair routine were what was working

I made one for myself a few years ago, but I don’t have any specifics to hand regarding the effects, or how long I used it for. I used Ethiopian coffee beans. I loved the smell, and I remember also I used it as an addition to my whipped Shea butter mixes I was making at the time. IIRC I documented in the first massive Shea butter thread that @Chicoro made here.

Someone picked up ground, mild roasted, 100% Arabica coffee for me. Hope this will be good enough. Didn't have time to research if the type of coffee made a difference

What does "IIRC" mean?

This answers that it seems to be worth adding and an oil is probably the best way to use it to prevent dryness of the hair

 
I’ve been consistently spin pin bunning and washing 2x per week for 7 months (30 weeks) now. I’m on track with my quarterly trims. I’ve found a moistutizing DC that I really like and I stocked up during their latest sale.

The two things I really need to focus on now are

- remembering to be gentle when I detangle

- figure out how to get the hair at my hairline to get long enough to reach my bun.

I wonder if the elastic band in my silk lined hair sock is a problem. Maybe I should switch to a silk hair scarf for sleeping.

For moisture I’m using Briogeo Avocado + Kiwi Mega Moisture I just started using it this year when I set a goal of focusing on hydrating/moisturizing

For protein I use Briogeo Don’t Despair Repair mask. I’ve been using this since 2018 or 2019. It has protein, but it also does an excellent job of hydrating.

But I also have the Cecred revitalizing mask, I’m not sure I I like that one. I’ve only tried it once and it made my hair difficult to detangle.

I ended up making a Coffee Growth Oil and Coffee Growth Spray
Will infuse the oil for +5 weeks before using
Will use the spray daily on scalp only since I cleanse scalp daily and water rinse daily

I don't drink coffee, but love the smell of it mixed with cinnamon :heart3: Could not stop taking little sniffs of it while making it:laugh:

Coffee Growth Oil
Mild Roasted 100% Arabica Ground Coffee
Organic Extra Virgin Cold Pressed Avocado Oil
Cold Pressed Hexane-Free Castor Oil
Organic Ground Clove
Organic Ground Cinnamon
Organic Moringa Powder
Dried Rose Mary
Organic Dried Oregano
Organic Amla Powder
Fenugreek Growth Powder Mix
Tee Tree Oil

Coffee Growth Spray (Brewed +24H)
Mild Roasted 100% Arabica Ground Coffee

I like the look of the mega moisture mask, the ingredients list looks like it could work well for me. Does it have good slip?

Why is it so expensive *sigh*, I can see my hair falling in love with this, adding an extra £33.00 either monthly or bi- monthly to my hair product costs, I'm still tempted to try, I'm not doing too well in my quest for staples under £15 :lol:

It has good but not excellent slip. Briogeo often has 20% off sales. And they also have subscribe and save so I never pay full price for any of their products.

I love the don't despair repair mask that comes in the honey bear bottle. I think it's seasonal because it's not always out but I see it released every now and then.

I've heard the original mask smells unpleasant but I've never tried it myself. Is that true?
 
Happy Wednesday ladies ♡

So I took down my cornrows last night on a whim. Detangled and swwitched them to 8 large flat twists ( from 16 crnrows) & did an unofficial length.

Majority of my hair is 5 inches around. No substantial increase since I joined this challenge on 2-25-25 (about .5 / 1 inch growth)

My June salon appointment is specifically for a professional trim.

I'm now wondering if it's too soon and if I should just wait until later in the year (November) for my 1st official trim.

Overall health is good.

What do yall think?
Skip the trim or get it done?
