I voted to grow then cut but realistically I will need to trim frequently since I am transitioning.

My reason is it's just hair and it'll grow back and for me I'd rather it grow back and it's healthly then to continue to let it grow knowing my ends will split even more. I wasn't always like this, but I had a bad hair experience and it just changed the way I think when it comes to cutting hair.Lavendar said:OH! Okay...so you got me going off on a tangent for nothing, and you should know how I can be by now. Typing 100+wpm has its advantages and disadvantages.I say definitely don't cut if you are trying to grow long hair and have no damage. You are just setting back your progress for no reason. You gotta take deep cleansing breaths through the "I need a new style" phase and focus on your goals."

I can just see you shakin' a finger at me...LOL!
I think I need a 12 step program or something.

Divine Inspiration said:I grew mine out past brastrap, and now I'm cutting it to maintain it and thicken it. My ends aren't damaged...they're just thinner than my texlaxed hair because they're bone straight. I have about 2 more inches to go so by the end of the year, all of those ends will be gone, but I'll still have hair that's just past BSL.

whenever it came time for a trim. But that's just me. Get it over with now.
...Yes, I still had length in the back, but the flow was gone. Anyway, I voted grow a little more then trim to be sure you get the long layers instead of shorter short layers. JMHOI am in the cut then Grow Group. I think that you may want to cut and then grow your hair because
1-like another poster daid once you reach bra strap your aren;t going to wnat to cut. and
2-You don't wnat you hair to look scraggy on the way there.

- Like having my cake and eating it too
.Cut then grow. No point of growing your hair long if you know you are going to just have to cut off a certain amount of length anyway. Might as well get it out of the way instead of teasing yourself.
.co sign and also is you dont cut and head to bs your bottom layer will be there and the rest of your hair wont be I say cut it now.....Cause once you get to BSL......you're not going to want to cut it. Cutting it now....will alleviate worrying about it later.
