Hair Depression…hair so bad I couldn’t even Big Chop! Seriously? (long post)

Awww, Lady Esquire thanks girl. You're right, this drastic chop will allow me the chance to focus on caring for my hair the right way and stick to a simple regimen that will help my hair.

when i first cut my relaxer off, i had a few bald/see-through spots from relaxer damage. there was a patch on the front right side of my head that maybe had 20-30 hairs on it.

it does grow back. i think you should just BC and see what happens from there. time was the only thing i used and everything grew back in within 2-3 months. keep it simple. it'll work out.

I am sorry to hear about your setback. I had one the last time I texlaxed and it thinned out my hair, but I have been transitioning to natural for one year and my hair is looking so much better. Give it time and before long you will be able to bc.

I've read some great things that you plan to do with your hair but make sure you are focusing on your scalp too. Applying the castor oil that you have to those areas daily and massaging should be beneficial. I know for sure t-tree oil works wonders for promoting hair growth on damaged scalps. Also, be inspired by women who who rock the haircut similar to what you want to get. From what I've seen, all you need are some nice accessories, some mascara and eyeshadow to accent the eyes (and arch the eyebrows), a few hats to wear every now and then and the attitude that regardless of what hairstyle I rock - I'm still a diva!!! Check out the style of these women:

thank you!!!! Hearing all of these experiences, advice and these photos has been very encouraging. I'm really motivated to move forward with this and not let it dampen my vibes. It's just hair; and yes, i will focus on my scalp more too. I need to get some tea tree oil, I've read a lot of mention about this oil and its benefits.

Ladies, I can't hold it anymore...i wanted to update this post WITH pics but my camera has been acting like a turd and I can't be bothered anymore. I DID THE BIG CHOP 12/12/2010. I have pics, so as soon as I can get the pics loaded, I'll link you all my fotki but I could let the month pass without saying a HUGE thanks too all my LHCFers who offered such great advice and support. I love my decision and have ZERO regrets and I LOVE my natural hair. I found a great barber who took his time and gave me a polished haircut (super short but oh well).
