could someone tell me what my hair type is? i am 11 wks post. i am trasitioning. pic in sig

You won't be able to get even a vague read on your hair type until you are at least 4-6 months post, and even then, the relaxed hair will distort your roots, so you won't be able to have a partially solid read until you BC, and even then, you might find that you have a hard time classifying your hair.

Is there a particular reason that you want to know?

I thought that it would help with creating a hair regi

Ahh. Hrm. I don't know how much just knowing your hair type will help with a regi - because it's not really - definitive enough.

Some of the best tricks for my hair, I learned from 1a's - but they also had very fine, dry, wiry, resistant hair like mine - it was just pinstraight.

Those things matter more when it comes to a regi than the size of your curl (which is what hair type defines).

In my mind, hair type is only really useful when it comes to figuring out what styles you can and cannot do.

My 1a friend can't be two strand twists - it's just not happening. My 4b hair won't do super curly wash & gos like a 3c could - it's just no happening. But all three of us might have the same regi/use similar products, ya know?

You look maybe 4a? But I agree with the other poster that it takes time to tell. I believe I'm 4a, but I didn't even notice I had little coils on my head until 10 weeks into my first stretch (which was only several months ago).

I'm sure if I stretched longer (I've only gone for 14 weeks) that I'd know what was really going on.

That's one of the things that temps me to transition cuz I wonder what it'd look like, you know.

But either way it goes, your NG looks pretty! It also looks like it would be easy to straighten if you wanted that styling choice.

I would recommend following one of the regimens that other transitioners who have been successful in keeping the relaxed ends from being a problem.

Stalk some fotkis and ask questions of those who are doing the same thing you are trying to do and that is transition.

That will give you the foundation of your regimen and then you should adjust it as you see fit.

Your hair not your hair type is going to tell you what it needs and want.
