Ok y'all, I wrote in my calandar that I got my relaxer about 5 weeks ago. I already have waves in my hair and my roots are getthing thicker by the minute. Since I don't have a phony pony and my hair can't really fit into a real one, how should I style my hair to keep it managable?

Have you considered doing twistouts, braidouts or knotouts? These are great options to hold you over until you get your relaxer.;)

i think a braid out or twist out is your best option for now. how often do you use MTG? Is it daily? Please let me know, I'm so excited for your growth! I cut my hair to your starting lenght ( Jan pics) about two months ago and you're a hair inspiration to me!!! Keep doin it!

Yeah, I think you should cornrow your hair in about 10 cornrows going backwards. Then unbraid it and wear it out. Otherwise, you can try a wig??

Thanks y'all...too bad I can't cornrow but I'll get my mommy to do it for me I hope. I used to MTG everynight, then I skipped to 2-3 days a week. My new growth was getting out of control and I was having trouble styling my hair! I haven't MTG'ed in a few weeks but my hair is still growing faster than it has. I am truly an MTG believer!

I agree with the braid out, twistout, knot out suggestions. You can make single braids, not just cornrows for a braid out.;)

I believe you! MTG is no joke, I'm having a really hard time styling my hair! I've decided to put off the MTG for about 3 or so weeks and then get a relaxer. After that it's back to MTG!

You also could wear a decorative scarves for the front and put a phoney pony on the back. When my hair did not go into the a pony tail I did this. You can also get fabric from the fabric store. I brought 1/4 yard pieces.

Great post. I was about the ask the same question b/c of my recent cut. I will be seven weeks post relaxer Wednesday and it is too short to wear a claw clip and I don't own a phony tail

I'm not a friend of phony ponys and i havent perfected a braid/twistout yet. What i do is either curl my hair with caruso steam rollers for cute bouncy fluffy curls. Or I will blow my roots out weekly/ after every wash and wear it down in a wrap with the front/sides tucked behind my ears....

Good idea! I love scarves and wear them regularly but never thought of that idea.
