Op,
You have to read when people post suggestions for you. You also need to do some research here and on google. You can use google to search for topics on products here. I do it all of the time.

You need to borrow, download or buy The Science Of Black Hair like a member suggested.

I can't see any mentions on my IPhone. PM me if it is a must see. Allons y

@Schakiaw

the califa spray can be diluted with filtered/spring water in a separate spray bottle... for every 1-2 pts califa i mix that with 2-3 pts water. In my previous posts to you I told you about the LOC/LCO methods did you take the time to read them? You mist your hair with califa (doesn't have to be soaking wet just mist it thoroughly) then coat with the cream/lotion of your choice and seal with oil ( i gave you suggestions for some in previous threads you created)....you don't have to be superheavy handed with the layers. Now if you wear your hair straight this will make it revert and mess up a twist/ braidout so i leave my hair twisted and put in a loose bun/ ponytail or put my loose hair in a bun/ponytail. 3-4 times a week of this is enough, doesn't have to be daily... i do daily cause I do my ponytails/buns and tied down the frizzies with a scarf. I don't sleep in my my ponytails/buns cause I don't want breakage from the tension and put my ponytail holder on loosely.

Sheamoisture is BOGO 50 OFF at CVS this week so you might want to pickup some things like deep conditioners and such.

I don't mind helping folks at all but its seems like the suggestions the forum are posting you are not taking the time to read them:look:. As stated above the stickies on the first pg as well as using the search function will prove to be most useful. Do a search on komaza for product reviews and how we use their products.
Also keywords for searching:
include rollersetting
transitioning hair
loc method
lco method
detangling methods
washing in sections
ceramides
moisture
protein

When you log onto the forum always look at the top to see if you have been tagged or mentioned. When you click on it it takes you to the thread you were tagged or mentioned in.

there are tons of great youtubers like:

and many more....

^^^they will give you styling ideas and additional ways to care for your hair.

Hi,
I am also transitioning (8 months now!) and my regimen basically consists of Shea Moisture, komaza care, whipped shea butter mix, avocado oil, hemp seed oil, and ACV/SSA for rinsing/clarifying. I also do a lot of baggying and GHE, because I keep my hair in cornrow styles, or beehive cornrows for wigs.
Depending on how I feel (like if I really just want some hair to flip lol), I'll have it braided into a beehive style and do a nice wig for a couple of weeks.
If I couldn't care less I'll just stay under a hat. And if I want my hair out, I'll do it in a nice braided style. The most important thing for me, is knowing when to take down each protective style, depending on the size and neatness. I have definitely left in bigger cornrows for a week too long and had monster detangling sessions as a result.
Also using only natural products has been amazing for the health of my scalp as well as for length retention-- I'm slowly trimming my relaxed ends away, but for a while, I was close to APL, because I was just leaving my hair alone, and taking each style down as necessary. Natural products don't just sit on your hair, drying it out, you know? My only issue now is figuring out how to use gel to hold my occasional braid-outs for more than 3 days on transitioning hair lolol

I second what alex114 said….natural products for me have turned my natural hair from what I thought were "bee shots" to perfect curls. My hair has never been more hydrated or defined than now. Don't get me wrong, I love my silicones and strange sounding chemicals but I'm finding that I can get just as much results in natural products as man-made.

Hey,
I'm transitioning. Lately my regime has been wigging it and cowashing every few days. I use a natural shampoo 1x a week. DC or PT (depending on needs) 1x a week. Henna 1x a week to 1x a month (relaxed strands are very weak). I get tons of knots from my relaxed strands mising with my curly strands, so under the wigs I stop braiding at the demarcation line. For summer, I don't wear wigs, so I'm starting a mini-braid regime. I think for transitioning hair it's easier to prevent knots if you keep the hair one texture (as much as you can) either all curly or all straightish. So I keep it in braids and for my mini-braids, I braid on stretched rollerset hair. I also use a lot of ceramide products in my hair to keep its strength. I seal with sunflower oil under my wigs and I use hot 6 oil and kinky curly knot today on my minibraids.
You can pm me for more suggestions/details/etc.
I think you should focus on strengthening strands and minimizing risks of tangles

Natural products work best on my hair. I believe it's what made my hair do a turn around. The curly part of my hair is also more defined

Schakiaw, I know you didn't ask me..but I'm going to give you what I use…. When I GHE (which I do about x1 a week) I use Wave Nouveau Humectant. This stuff softens my hair soooo much. I'd do it daily but the smell over time of the wave nouveau becomes rather offensive to me. lol.

When you greenhouse effect do you use better or oil or both and what brand do you use ?
Hey sorry for the late reply Schakiaw , I need to figure out how to link this to my email lol--I use both butters and oil. I've been using hemp seed oil and avocado oil, either alone or together, shea moisture curl enhancing smoothie, and recently, belle butters unyevu butter. Hope that helps!

edit:
oh and i just use any organic brands of oil i find, i have no preferences-- i actually usually get them from grocery stores or health stores.

I'm transitioning too, a year in July. I didn't read through all the other posts, but if they said moisture, I agree. Now, I, personally, have been prepooing using primarily drug store brands throughout my transition. I don't know why, I just fell in love with Loreal. I had never used it before, so weird. But, yeah, lots of moisture, however you can get it.

Protein. My relaxed hair is fine, so I use a good protein about once a month, currently Nexus Aloxxi Reconstructor. In-between, I also use protein. Depending on how my hair feels, I might put a cap full of Colorful Neutral Protein Filler in my dc blend or just apply Aphogee 2 min to my ends.

The judicious use of heat. I only wash every two weeks. That may change as spring approaches. Throughout the winter, I washed every two weeks and used heat of some sort every time. Mostly it was blowdrying my roots on warm and the length on cold and using the tension method. About once every 4-6 weeks, I flat-ironed on 370. In either case, I used the proper heat protectants.

How to protect your hair from heat damage

Air drying hair may be more damaging than blow drying!

Shampoo or cowash? I've been cowashing since before I found the boards. I actually ended up here because I was having some issues with Wen. However, I've found that during my transition, I'm actually shampooing a lot more. Maybe it's because I'm only washing every two weeks. Maybe its cuz I'm using cones. I don't know.

Last tip: I'm gonna go put this in the transitioners thread because I just thought about it. I've been using a lot of smoothing conditioners and I think they're helping cut down the potential frizz. After I rinse out my deep conditioner, I mix up a little bowl of any smoothing conditioner and an Ion conditioner meant to close the cuticles of color treated hair. I leave it on for about 10 min under a cap, then rinse. Shiny, smooth, well-defined coilies! :yep:
