I know i have a dry scalp condition but my dermentologist prescribed a medicated shampoo for me. It has been working well the last 2 years...

Recently I've been finding dry patches on my scalp consistently. I thought it just doesn't like the water at the college I'm staying at but I went home this weekend for fall break, went to my favorite salon and one day later... I'm already feeling itchy dry patches. I don't know what to do!?

Can someone give me some advice?

Which med. shampoo was prescribed for you? If it's Nizoral then that's dry for the hair and scalp. And there is another Rx shampoo I tried before (forgot the name), it really dried and tangled my hair/scalp. I stopped using it as the dr prescribed (3xweek) and started once a month followed with a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner.

Add 5-10 of drops of tea tree oil (avaliable at Sallys) to diluted shampoo. Takes a couple of hours to work and you might have to repeat treatment a few times. If that doesn't work make a 50-50 mix of your favorite oil and tea tree oil and apply it directly to clean scalp.

Good luck!

I made a spritz of aloe vera, distilled water, rose water & glycerin.

I spritz it in my hair after my shampoo. I spritz until my hair is soaking. The aloe is cooling and healing to my scalp. No itchies what so ever.

I too had the same problem. Nothing seemed to work until I started using apple cider. I wash my hair with head and shoulders (dry hair). Once my hair is dry I mix apple cider with water (1:20 parts of water) and then spray it on my hair (if you don't like the smell mix it with an essential oil you like). I don't have itches anymore, I used to scratch my hair all the time and find thick dry patches but its all gone.
