Help, I have a really bad rash on my neck

Ladies, I really need your help. I have a really bad rash/sulfur burn on my neck. What can I do to get rid of it? It turned my neck really dark and rough like gator skin:eek: I've tried pure coconut oil, aloe, and it still hasn't left. It seems to be spreading. Any tips?
 
Queen, I am an advocate for professional medical attention when something seems odd and spreading..GET THYSELF TO A SKIN DOCTOR ASAP!!!!
 
I'm just getting over this!!! I have very sensitive skin. I went to the doctor and she said that it was an allergic reaction and gave me a prescription for a hydrocortisone cream. It cleared up quickly and I now I'm trying to figure out what caused it.

ETA: I think it was the Sulfur 8 grease i was using for dandruff.

try anti-fungi creme or put some vinegar on it then a penny, it may burn a little. it may be a ringworm but if not: i say make a quick doctor visit...may be contagious
 
I also developed a black rash which looks like a burn on my neck & around my ears. My MD prescribed Desoximetasone cream which is a cortisone that controls allergic dermatoses. I had no idea I was allergic to sulphur. :confused: I applied my sulphur product as stated & it never dripped on my neck. I used very little. I hate to give up my sulphur product because I was achieving great results.

Ugh this happened to me as well. I do not want to believe its from BT. ERGH!!! I refuse to stop using it. I am going to only apply it to the front of my head to see if that is the real culprit.

I have had a bad rash on my neck for the past 2 weeks- I also bought some over the counter hydrocortisone and its clearing up nicely. Noth else worked- not oils, not Neosporin. Calamine lotion helped though.

It has been really hot where I live. This may be an issue-

I noticed this after I started on BT, but I thought it was because I basically, in my haste to apply, I went over my head twice, doing heavy handed drizzling the whole time for about 3 days straight. I knew it was dripping, but I just let the towel catch it, thinking I'd just clean it off when I hopped in the shower post application. My neck was so dark and rough I got scared. I looked at my neck and could see the drip marks. However, my scalp never had a problem. I mixed olive oil, tea tree oil and vitamin E oil and after cleansing with organic soap, just slathered that on my neck. No trip to the doctor, but that's because it cleared up to about 90% over a two week period. It's still getting back to normal but looks like it will be completely clear in another couple of weeks. So, I took Nice and Wavy's advice in a post and just started applying with my fingertip. No more drips, no more gator neck. :look:
 
I use BT daily. You will only get a rash if it drips. you should apply and rub it in, and only apply a small amount. Sulfur based products will do that. BT is a GREAT product but you need to take extra care. I always get a damp flannel with soap and wipearound my neck, ears and hairline after applying. I have had no problems with rashes thus far.
 
I have applied cortizone 10 twice, and it doesn't feel as rough so it is trying to work. I'm also trying to keep my hair off my neck since I'm currently wearing a sew-in. There is a possibility that oil may have gotten onto some of the hair and with it falling on my neck, cause slight irritation.
Oh, it isn't contagious, just very sensitive skin.

The skin on the neck doesn't have hair to protect it or soak in the oil like the head, that's what I'm guessing.:confused:
 
hydrocortisone seem's to work well, but I advise you to call your doctor immediately, especially if it's spreading.

I'm still stuck on why continue to use a product that is injuring your skin. black, gator skin does not sound cute
 
I didn't get gator skin, but did get a rash that looked lik eczema. I stoped using MTG for about a week, and used alcohol and neosporin. That cleared the rash up. Mine was in my temples and on my ears. When I started back using MTG, I used vaseline around my hair line before applying the MTG, and after the application I washed my hands and around my hairline. I haven't had any more problems; well other than trying to use up this MTG so that I can buy BT. :)
 
I'm sorry, but if your body is reacting to something in the form of a rash, it is telling you to discontinue usage. This rash is your body's way of rejecting something and screaming to you to stop.

I know yall love yall some BT and all, but if you are allergic please just stop. It's not that serious to neglect your health over a growth aide or to walk around with dark patches on the back of your neck. I would discontinue use ASAP. Your hair will grow regardless, maybe a little slower, but it will grow. Just take care of it the good old fashion way, and I promise you you won't be dissapointed.
 
I had the same problem, and the culprit was my BT. I PM natural lady and she advised me I was using too much. I stopped using it at my nape and it cleared up in about a week. I REFUSE to stop using that product:nono: !

This happened to me too and I stopped using BT. I guess I was applying to much of it but to play safe I gave it away.

The product is great but it's not for me and I am ok. with it:)

I try to stay out of the BT threads since folks catch feelings, but I gotta agree with what's been said.

I don't care what the product is or who makes it, if your body is reacting negatively STOP USING IT. I speak from experince, I got a burnt, itchy neck (THAT WAS NOT CUTE) messing around with MTG and thankfully the doctor was able to give me something to clear it up. The key point being that hair products shouldn't send you to the doctors office.
