How do you baggy?

I am trying to get on the baggying bandwagon, but everytime I baggy my whole head overnight I awake with soaking wet hair. It is too cold to leave the house with wet hair! I usually apply a water based moisturizer and seal with oil.

For those that baggy, how are you doing it? What do you use? Is your hair soaked, damp, or just moist/soft when you undo your baggy?

My hair is so dry this winter and I want to up my moisturizing game, but I can't get with this wet hair thing.

i use to baggy and do a fony pony over it. my hair was always wet inside the baggy, i think thats the way its suppose to be tho. i dont baggy anymore, never needed to. just another bandwagon i jumped on i guess.

I never baggy my whole head, I specifically baggy my ends for the purpose of retention and moisture. When I baggy Ill put my hair in a wet ponytail, drench the ponytail with any oils or butters I choose (shea, coconut, jojoba are my faves) and I tie my hair up in the baggy, when I take my hair down usually after 2-3 days its not longer damp, just soft, moist ends.

I baggy using Wave Nouveu (sp?) and seal with coconut oil with a phony pony over it.

I think this counts as a whole baggy....I spray my hair (lightly) with nu gro spray w/ moisturizer, seal my hair (lightly) with parachute 100% pure coconut oil, roll my head with about 9 rollers and put on a satin cap.

Once I wake up in the morning I just brush all the waves into place, never wet, just soft....maybe its the amount of product...next time just do a little less and see how it does.

I ponytail bun so I baggy the excess hair that is out.. The whole head is way too much for me.. Before leaving for work I just take the bag off and bun the excess hair...

I baggy my whole head. I don't apply products so while my hair does feel moist when I take the baggy out, it's not soaking wet. I never got out in the winter without having my head covered, whether planning to keep it covered all day or just until I get to the office. In either case, I wear a baggy under my hat or wrap and I don't get cold. In fact, the baggy helps in keeping my head warm under the hat or wrap.

I'm wearing Senegalese Twist and I do whole head baggying at night. I use a curl moisturizer spray and Surge 14. Since Surge is a discontinued item, sometimes I'll use 911 Leave in Condish or Infusium 23 instead of Surge. Also, like Nonie, I also baggying underneath my hats (beanie or skull caps) to keep my hair from drying out during these harsh winter months.

I like the whole head baggy. I helps to moisturize my roots as well as my ends. I simply moisturize my hair in sections like I always do nightly. Then I put on a plastic shower cap, then I tie with my satin/silk scarf. In the morning, my hair is not sopping wet at all - instead it is moist from root to tip. I do this about 2 times per week. Been working for me for over a year now...

I'm part of the baggy challenge. I do the whole head baggy. I spritz my hair with African Royal braid spray and put on a shower cap. When I wake up in the morning I seal with coconut oil or a coconut/shea mix. My hair is either damp or just moisturized. I'm going to try that Hawaiian 14-1 when my braid spray runs out.

I've started baggying this week and I've found that it works wonders for my hair since my hair tends to get extremely dry. My hair is very damp in the mornings and then I use ORS Olive Oil Moisturizing Hair Lotion in the mornings, style and I'm off to work. By afternoon it feels moisturized but certainly not wet. Works really well for me.

I baggy my whole head with scurl. My hair does not get really wet, it is just moist, but I do not wet my hair I just add the scurl and but on my plastic cap.

I moisturize my dry hair, sometimes seal with coconut oil, then throw on a shower cap. I do this under my halfwigs, so it's not an every day thing. But my hair seems to love it

Baggying my whole head makes my scalp itch like crazy--it's very sensitive. I usually only baggy in ponytails or buns.

I will be checking this out! I started baggying my bun only and it works great! Leaves hair moisturized and not wet at all. Plan on joining the challenge to see if baggying can help me get to my goal of BSL this year.

Thanks for the link! This is great info. I have not tried this yet. I have been baggying my bun overnight and covering with satin scarf. This would be a great way for me to baggy all day on the weekends while I do errands! Southern Tease buns are my favorite so this will work great.

I just don't know if my hair is thick enough to cover up the plastic.

I co-washed my hair the other day, then got out of the shower and used glycerine n water spray and Elasta QP Mango/ olive oil, among other random stuff and put on a shower cap then my satin bonnet n went to bed. the result is in my siggy pic

I pretty much do the same thing. Each night I spray my hair with a moisturizer (H-Silky, Carefree Instant Moisturizer or Carefree Curl Activator or Wave Nuveau) and I bag my entire head. When I wake up in the morning, I gel my wet hair down with EcoStyler and put a satin scarf on before I go outside. By the time I arrive to work and complete my workout, My head is somewhat dry and smooth. I will say that my hairline had been shedding w/o my bag method. I see a complete difference and I glad my edges are beginning to fill in very well. My hair does very well in moisture. BTW, I haven't had any negative side effects by doing this method in the Winter time. In fact, the Winter wind and coldness drys my hare out.

I used to do a whole head baggy from time to time. That would do nothing but give me a wet head. For the past month or two, I've been baggying just the ends (Water, infusium, Scurl) in a ponytail overnight. My hair loves it...my hair is soaking up the moisture..it's still not 'damp' when I take the baggy off though.

So, I guess I need to up my baggy-time or do an extra day then huh?

I moisturize my entire head the pull my hair back into a highish ponytail. I apply more moisturizer to the length of the ponytail, wrap the hair around a large roller then wrap a plastic shower cap around the roller, throw on a bonnet and call it a night.

I am a newbie so take it for what it's worth -- When I joined LHCF a few months back, my hair was breaking off in small little pieces. It wasn't excessive but enough for me to question it. Someone suggested baggy'n. So of course, I jumped on the baggy bandwagon as well but it has worked for me. I tried both techniques(whole head and ends only) and here's what I find: When I baggy my whole head, my hair is very wet the next morning. When I baggy the ends, the ends are minimaly damp. Baggy'n the ends allows me to style my hair and be off to work without any probs. I have a hard time styling my hair after doing a whole head baggy so I stopped doing whoel head and would only do whole head on the weekend if needed. I will say, doing the baggy method help calm down the breakage. I baggy the ends nightly for about 5 out of 7 days by using this technique: http://public.fotki.com/Kiesha8185/dailynight-care-reg/daily-regimen/ except I modified it a little....I braid my hair in two big braids (on on the left side and right side of head), roll ends like fotki shows and baggy the ends. I find that to be easier for me and it gives me a braid out look by morning.

The Baggied Roller Method works for me!!! I cannot baggy my whole head; I tried it a couple times and I wake up with damp hair But this method always gives me moisturized and smooth ends, and it decreased my need for trimming. I only trim with I get touch-ups. I have pics in that album to show how my hair looks when I use one big roller, but here's what my hair looks like when I use three 1-inch rollers only on the ends:

That's my twin and my cousin...I love my family, we have so much fun together!

My cousin is blessed with hair that STAYS moisturized. The girl does absolutely nothing to it and it always feels like butta. But she doesn't care for her hair, so she always has to cut to get rid of damaged ends. My twin...she's not as crazy about hair as I am Her hair is long in this picture, but it is constantly dry and breaking, and she had to let go of 3-4 inches last week. Her hair stays between shoulder and collar bone length. They both wear their hair down everyday and look at me like I'm crazy when I talk about protective styles

I try to get them both to do the Baggied Roller method, but you can bring a horse to the water... My mom has adopted it and her hair is flourishing!
