How To Make Hair Ties Out Of Stockings?

I remember looking in somebody's album and it explained how to make hair ties out of a stocking. Can somebody PLEASE explain it to me step by step?
I am currently doing the bun challenge and I noticed that I am losing a few hairs everytime I redo my buns. I use the cotton kind of hair ties, maybe thats why.

Im pretty sure that u just cut the foot out and then start cutting across as whatever width you want, then u have low stress haircovers that look like rubber bands! at least thats how I do it...

I cut the tops off and just tie it around my head and tuck the ends under.
