I got Aveda Highlights and did my 3rd BKT (to seal the color in)

Hi ladies,

I got Aveda highlights done on August 7 and I LOVE them! I'm texlaxed so I decided to go with Aveda because of the excellent reviews and Butterfly's beautiful hair! I did a Softliss treatment yesterday (8/11) to help seal and prolong the color. I was "officially" growing my hair back to about MBL but I had more layers added..lol. We'll see haha!

I saw this lady in Target over the weekend with really pretty hair and hilights and she gave me the name of her stylist. I am soo confused, lol. I really like the subtleness(is that even a word?) of the color. Well, thanks for sharing!

I'm right there with you. There is an Aveda salon in my neighborhood, but I am SO scared they will not be able to manage my hair. What color did you ask for when you got the highlights? Did you go in with your hair straightened already?

Thank you. I don't mind. My highlights were 100 dollars plus the tip. I only got partial highlights and they put a glaze on my hair that's good for a 4 shampoos. I'm really pleased. My hair is dry or crunchy at all. I had Tigi (Bedhead) highlights on my 100% natural hair back in July 2007 and my hair was SO DRY I couldn't comb it!

I'm right there with you. There is an Aveda salon in my neighborhood, but I am SO scared they will not be able to manage my hair. What color did you ask for when you got the highlights? Did you go in with your hair straightened already?

I asked for carmel highlights. I wanted something to compliment my skintone but not overwhelm me..lol. My hair was already straight and they did the color (foils) from there. I'm going to go to a different Aveda salon next time, where I did my initial consultation, because they have a black colorist/stylist. So many white folks get scared when they find out you have a relaxer (even a mild one..lol) and that might screw up the color. I don't want anyone SCARED working on my head!

I know. I went to an Aveda salon about 10 minutes from my house two years ago and a black stylist did an awesome job. I called to schedule an appointment with her a while back and she no longer works there. I called last week to ask about color pricing and I was told it depends on the experience of the stylist. I asked about a color specialist(basically someone who has been doing color for a while) and the price was a bit high from what I recall. I don't mind paying, but I wonder if they would know how to handle my hair.

The last time I went, the one and only black stylist was showing a few of the white stylist how to straighten my hair. I don't know if I should just go to a color expert and let them leave my hair curly after coloring. To be fair, the salon had just opened so the stylist may have more experience now, but I am still on the fence.

When my hair was curly and natural back in 2007 I straightened my hair before I had the highlights done. I didn't want to slow the stylist down while they tried to navigate through my curly hair. I know the man that did my hair said to pay the extra money to have the master stylist do your hair so you don't end up with mistakes.

I your hair. So pretty. I want to color my hair sssooo bad. I must get me the SoftLiss BKT. I think that I will like the results alot better, than the other BKT that I have used. They were good, but I like BONE straight. EVen when wet. I am not knowledgeable of color, hightlights and cost, but is what you paid the average cost? Or was it because it was an Aveda salon? I'm cheap
