I hate hate hate Aveda Anti humectant

Aww come on!! Everyone (thing) deserves a second chance.

Try pressing your hair first and then use SMALL amount of the pomade afterwards, run it lightly through your hair. I bet you will get good results and a longer lasting straight style

girl there is not much that could convince me to try it again...im tellin you it made my hair feel worse than i ever remember it feeling before...thats scarey. i dont think its a bad product..i just dont think its for my hair, or for the purpose i wanted it for...i think even if i use a little on dry styled hair..once its on its keeping moisture out and thats what i wanted , but it does it so well that it keeps good moisture out and it feels horrible..and to me it seemed to to be so "anti humectant(moisture)" that it also robbed my hair of the moisture it had in it already...thats not good yanno?

i just give up on it...im'a try the stuff you suggested though

Thats how I feel when I by a product that is expensive and does not work on my hair.There are so many products out there and you don't know which works best for your hair and that gets me so frustrated.bUt let me add that your hair looks lovely and is short of nothing not even the aveda

in case y'all missed this pic which i posted later than when i made this post....this shows what i was talking about a little better...this product did NOTHING to hold the style or eliminate frizz , it in fact caused it faster, and easier , than any other time ive worn my hair straight, it was litterally frizzing before me and my daughters eyes and the dryness...omg the dryness....in this pic is it has shine, but you can see the frizz....but the shine is just gloss on top of severe dryness...cause i put IC gloss on it tryin to help out the situation.....no joke this stuff jacked up my hair bad...no exaggeration...i will not touch it again ya'll. i dont even wanna talk about how my roots looked...awfull...my hair has never looked or felt that bad ..ever

also just wanted to say....
with humectants they draw moisture out of the air to your hair (good thing) but when there isnt enough moisture in the air it will draw the moisture out of your hair

i suppose that if an anti humectant can repel moisture from the air ...that it can also repel or rob the moisture thats in your hair already...its purpose is to avoid moisture....i dont know ...but thats one reason i stay away from glycerine , not just because its sticky, but in the if enough moisture isnt around to draw from it draws from your hair...i doubt i will ever use either a anti humectant or humectant at all again....i might use a humectant occasionaly but i would never use it long term regularly knowing that at any time it could draw moisture out of the hair shaft. thats why folks had juicy but very dry jerri curls

very frustrating...but its a lesson learned ...i really think i should of known better though....i was just thinking no moisture =longer lasting press...i didnt think about the trouble no moisture, even the wanted kind, could cause...but then i didnt think it would litterally stop ALL moisture

I hear you though, that's the same way I felt the first (and all) of the times I used ANY of the Biolage products on my hair....I was so pissed after the first shampoo & conditioner I threw bout $30 worth of products into the garbage

Everything definitely don't work for everybody

At least you can wash the stuff off and start fresh!

this is true and is the bright side of the situation..for a minute it felt so bad i was wondering if it did somethin permanent to it...but shea and avacodo butter to the rescue...i havent washed it yet..cause i could tell by how it felt , shampooing it in that state would of tore it up. so i have it soaked in the butters right now and its feeling better...gonna wash it out tommorow night probably...its murder being on these hair boards and trying all these products that everyone loves and you just pray it does that same thing in your hair....but it just dont always work like that...well i have a few more products i wanna try...then im done....i mean it this time

(sayin that to convince others and myself at the same time)

i cant keep doin this

Well, that explains it. I used it in my hair to seal in moisture day before yesterday, after my leave-in. I also applied some Anti-Humectant and airdried as usual. Yesterday, it didn't look so good - very dry looking and dull. It also felt dry and stiff. It didn't have the usual swing and bounce. I figured it would be ok since it has good oils in it. I washed it out last night. The aveda lady wants me to give her a report on the results.

You gave me great advice the other day Irresistible about the Aveda styling creme which I recently bought - it really should be used with heat. I didn't know that although the Aveda lady seemed surprised when I said I didn't use heat, which was a clue!

See what I posted about my hair results? Sounds almost like your experience! The combination of the using the Aveda Styling Creme and the Aveda Anti Humectant made my hair dry looking and dry period. Since the Aveda lady is waiting to hear about my results, I'm going to take my styling creme back and return it or exchange it for something better. I would say not to use the styling creme and the anti-humectant together, althought the styling creme may work just fine by itself.

I just love my Aveda Anti-Humectant though. Not trying to convince you

but several ladies on this board successfully use this pomade and have long, beautiful healthy and moisturized hair to show for it.

girl i used them both on wet hair , then air dried and pressed right? and i noticed a difference in the feel of my hair then , and all that week i didnt press anymore..but i noticed it was dry but i didnt think much of it...well then i went to press at the end of that week and just used the anti humectant alone and it was that product that steadily made it worse and worse, right before my eyes, minute by minute, i saw it and felt it...so i know its that. but now that you have said the other one caused you problems, girl i might just take em both back now. one of them dang products for that money should of had my hair feeling like silk , not like the desert ...even if one was bad..the other should of helped...but nope, well at least i know it aint just me with at least one of those products

The styling creme was working great for AngieK. It must be how she and others used it and I didn't use it correctly.

One lesson I am re-learning from this board is to continue using what has been working for me. And also that everyone's hair and chemistry is different. The same product can have different results on different people.

this is so so true Isis...this is why i just want to get my last little products i want to try out of my system so i can be done with and from there stick with what i know.....i just read the aveda site again about the anti humectant and it does say you can put it on wet hair....im taking bout the anti humectant back and the styling creme and getting the emolliant and the elixer...im just more into products that I KNOW will soften , and not even possibly have other results. like with these two products.....im not sure if they will take the anti humectant back cause i used about 1/3 of it, but im gonna try , they can give 2/3 back of my money

, but i barely used any of the styling creme and im definitley takin that back....i think i will be happy with these other products, cause they are just for softening and conditioning , which is safe in other words. and thats all i need....i still have the humectant pomade too....that one will (lets hope) probably be more of what i was looking to make my hair feel like...cause its moisturizing...not anti moisture

im goin to the Aveda store today, to exchange those awfull evil produts for the Elixir and the Emolliant...i do beleive that these wont go wrong. i give up finding the perfect anti reversion pressing product, it doesnt exist. and the closest to perfect is the Satin creme press lotion. and that aint around no more...i really really dont believe my hair should EVER be in an anti moisture state again....reversion and all, it actually does better with moisture wearing it pressed. so im done

well tonight the lady at the Aveda store confirmed it....her exact words "yeah it draws moisture out of your hair" why couldnt she have been the one that was there when i went and bought the stuff.....omg those words would of stopped me from buying it. anyway , i got the other stuff now and im sure i will be happy with it.
