I feel some what ashamed but man I tired of trying to figure out what works for my hair it is such a hassle. I tried to do a braid out last night and it looked absolutely horrible /images/graemlins/shocked.gif. It was still partically wet. It seems like so much work to shampoo more than once a week.I guess because my schedule is so full with work and my 2 year old. MY HAIR WAS SO THICK by the time I was through I could of got cast for the LION in the wizard of oz. /images/graemlins/mad.gif. I love the Elucence line but I guess I'm trying to find the right regimen something simple. What method do you use to air dry /images/graemlins/confused.gif. I guess I'm just fustrated because of my bad hair day /images/graemlins/weird.gif. What's really fustrated is I have just about every product you could think of missing just a few with no hair regimen. Help please /images/graemlins/frown.gif

that was a lot of exclamation! keep trying is what i would say, i still dont have a set regimen. dont give up, just keep trying different combinations and methods. get yourself a notebook and it might be worthwhile to jot down evrything you do to your hair, what you put in it and how it looks afterwards so you know what def. did not work.
you do not have to wash your hair more than once a week! so dont fret about it if you havent got that time cos you can still grow long healthy hair with once a week.

Girl don't worry. Hair care is a lot of work. If you can't wash your hair more than once a week, then don't. You should still be fine. Just step away a little and look at the big picture.
You're on a journey to discover what the best way is to care for your hair. Keep in mind that the road many take will not be right for you. If you find that something doesn't work for you, don't be disheartened. Pick yourself up and go in another direction. /images/graemlins/smile.gif But everything you try, just tell yourself, "if this doesn't work, I'm not going to get upser or give up because I want my hair to look and be healthy. I'll just try something else." Always try to wear a smile, and approach every new technique as an adventure worth experiencing.

First of all, you know that you do not really hate your hair girl, you were just having one of those days. We all have them. /images/graemlins/frown.gif
The first time I tried a braid out I hated it. I had to go to work the morning I pulled out the braids and I was DISGUSTED. It was so thick and poufy looking, I was so ashamed all day at work.
Over time and with practice, you will discover what works and what does not work for your hair. I discovered for instance, that my hair drys better using a min. of 4 pony tails for the pony tail air drying method and I have to put extra large rollers on the ends. I used this method this past weekend for the first time and it came out beautiful. I do not get the same results using just one big, pony tail (tried it, hated it) and it would take like 2 days for my hair to completely dry.
Perhaps you can try wet setting your hair. If you cannot wet set it yourself, is there anyone you can ask to help you? Wet setting is not that hard once you pracitce and if you use the really large rollers your hair will dry quite quickly. I saw a pic. of a wet set from a girl on the board (can't remember who now so I can send her props) and I used her example to wet set my hair. In the pic. it looked like she used no more than about 17 of the large grey rollers. I tried this(actually my husband tried it under my direction) and it turned out to be the best wet set ever! I had a bag of those rollers tucked away under my bathroom sink for years and I had never used them to set my entire head of hair before. I had only used them on the longest parts.
I do not use the braid out to dry my hair. Maybe with more practice and in warmer weather I will. What I do, is dry my hair, then spray the curl activator on it and twist it every night. When I do this, I can keep my hair really moist and I can put it in all sorts of styles. I looks good in a french roll with some loose hair falling down on the sides etc. or pulled back with a head band or just hanging down.
I do not want to ramble on, but I just want to encourage you to keep trying, you will find out what works for you soon. I am still trying to identify a regime for myself. Many of the ladies on the board have taken years to learn what works and does not work for them and we are all constantly learning. Chin up sis. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I feel you too girlfriend!!! Well my hair is on the thick side too and I use Creme of Nature & BreakThru Shampoo.....I have been doing the healthy hair thing girl and I still haven't found the right conditioner. Currenlty I use Nexxus Humectress but will try KeraCare.
For the braid out method you have to make sure your hair is SOAKING wet when you braid it rewet it if necessary and also pick a good setting gel. I do a combo of Paul Sebastain's wet and Paul Mitchell's foaming pomade! You also have to have your hair COMPLETELY dry when you take out the braids if it is wet it can loose the curl and PUFF up.
I cornrow my hair when I do it it looks better on me than twisting or braiding it. Also try putting a small perm rod on the end to curl the ends. Once the end dries you can take off the perm rod!
Don't get discouraged and hang in there!
Read through some of the products recommended and try to determine from the posts what type of hair type some of the ladies have and try their products!

I so feel your pain! I tried the twist out method in my hair last night and when I took it out this morning it looked completely horrific!!! I did a quick conditioner wash, applied some of the Aphogee Balance Moisturizer rinsed that out, put some Motions moisturizer in, used the blowdryer on a cool setting until damp (BAD BAD BAD! /images/graemlins/blush.gif) and then let it air dry, stuck a headband on and continued on my way. Granted my hair doesnt look that great /images/graemlins/frown.gif, I didnt have much time this morning to really fix it but I know the twist out method may not be for me right now.
Please dont be discouraged, healthy hair is on its way, I know easier said than done but everyone on the board has given me inspiration WE CAN DO THIS! /images/graemlins/laugh.gif
