Aka Heat. Although I don't constantly use heat I had a tendency to use heat at high temperatures. I thought that was the only way to effectively get my hair straight. What I found out was that it was my tools that determined how good my hair looked.

I usually use a hand held blow dryer on medium to high heat. But I found out that all I needed was a comb attachment. Since I started using it, I have cut my total drying time in half and I use the lowest heat setting.

I found the same thing to be true for my flat ironing. I got a reasonably priced flat iron at Wal Mart. Andis was the brand. It boasted of ceramic plates and better heat. I had that thing on the highest setting and my hair never came out good.

I finally broke down and got a flat iron by Jilbere. That thing is pure gold!!! Once again, I use medium heat for my initial flat iron (after washing) and then low heat for touch ups. My hair looks shiny, soft, silky and it moves--all without the high temperatures!!!

I really feel like I've reached a good turning point in my hair care regimen. I can truly say that I have the heat behind me.

Comb attachment, huh? I better get my hands on one of those...
