Anybody waiting to try Silk Elements...do not wait any longer!!! I am in LOVE with this relaxer. I was scared to switch from No-Lye to Lye (never used it) but I heard all the raves about this relaxer and decided to try it. So I got Silk Elements Lye mild ( I was scared it would not process but it did) and went to the dominicans (big up to Judith's in Adams Morgan) to do it and all I can say is BUTTER BABY!!! I love it!! As long as it doesn't revert in a week this is my new staple. Also the salon is great too, the only downside was the shampoo girl seemed put off or offended somehow that my hair was covered in grease when I got there, like she didn't believe it would protect my hair from runoff. But it was okay because the owner (Judith) did. Even though I really don't care who believes because I know it does and I can see the difference since I started doing it!! Also I know someone is going to put that "this thread is worthless without pics" thing up and I know and will post pics in a couple of days (i don't have a digi cam :perplexed)

Can't wait to see your pics. I've been using this relaxer for about 2 years now, and love it. It gives salon-like results. I love the silky feeling it leaves behind on my hair.

I have never covered my hair in grease, just my scalp. Hmmm, I may need to try this next relaxer. :scratchch

Yeah I've done this for that last two or three relaxers and my hair is the same thickness from root to tip, no waning of ends. She (and actually another dominican lady who does my hair in NY) seemed very offended that I did that. I'm like what's it to you? Just base my scalp and lets go i'll cover my head in grease if i want to. I didn't do my scalp because they usually base very good in there so I saved that for them.

I haven't used silk elements relaxer but I recently discovered their megasilk conditioner and leave in. I love it...those two are new staples of mine...

Pretty. ?Pero k es runoff?

I love silk elements mild LYE relaxer and all of their products
I love SE too! I have their Olive Oil relaxer sitting in my cabinet now, waiting to relax. When I started back relaxing, I was using the regular SE relaxer. I decided to switch to the OO one to see how it will work. I have just about all the products from both of their lines. Really is some good stuff, and it smells soooooo good!!

I use SE Mild as well and I love it so far. Have used this last year and have had not problems. But I really need to try their conditioners I've been good things about them too.

Would anyone happen to know for the 15oz SE Lye - is that for one application??

I stil have at least half of a 15 oz left after my retouch. If your just doing your new growth you shouldn't need to use the whole thing (unless you've been stretching a long time).

SE is a great line. It really is. I haven't tried anything yet that I didn't like. The hair mayo smells a lil strong (not bad, just highly fragrant) but nothing I can't handle.

Thanks Daephae - the style in your siggy - is that a result of a rollerset?

I bought a sample of the MegaSilk condish, I was thinking of putting some of it in the relaxer"mild" (this will be my 1st time self-relaxing - still debating- in about 5-6 years)

TIA!!!

:yep:...I saran wrapped under the dryer for about 10 minutes after I took the rollers out to loosen up the curls, then I wrapped my hair overnight. This is how it looked the next night.

ETA: I've never added actual condish to a relaxer only oil (about a tablespoon of EVOO). I have put condish on my ends to keep them from being overlapped or processed by relaxer runoff.

I tried so many other relaxers before finally succumbing and i was swayed! i love the lye relaxer in the small tub. I bought mine for 3.99 and i use it 3 or 4 times because i dont have a lot of hair :)

Hey yall, soo i'm about to self-relax for the first time, and i had wanted to try Mizani BB.. however after looking for it in 50-11 stores, i saw the silk elements, and i said ima go ahead and get this since i remember this was another good one i wanted to try, and who knows... maybe it was a reason why i didn't find mizani bb. but i love hearing good reviews on something i bought!! soo... in a week or so, i will post pics in my fotki.. and if it's just that good, i will keep yall posted and maybe make a thread!! wish me luck!!
