I just got my Maxiglide a few days ago and I love it, love it, love it!!!! (Can you tell I'm in love?!) I have a Solia, FHI Runway, and a Sedu, but my Maxiglide beat them all! It is a little bulky, but I was able to straighten my short hair. I am sure that it would be easier to handle if you have SL hair or longer. It normally takes me over an hour to to straighten my hair....of course I don't do it that often. I did the back of my hair in 15 minutes with the Maxiglide.....15 MINUTES! THAT IS A RECORD FOR ME!
I set it only on 2 because it seems to get really hot. I probably could have got a smoother look if I set a little higher, but I was afraid of burning my hair. I have about an inch of new growth (I texturize every 3 months). The Maxiglide slid through my hair like butta!! My hair was soooo soft!
I could talk for days about this thing, so I'll stop....you guys get the picture........ MAXIGLIDE IS THE BEST!!!:trophy:

I just bought a Maxiglide this week, for my daughters hair but I want to try it on my natural 4b hair. Is anything you did different to get it straight, nothing but a pressing comb seems to work for me.

I didn't do anything special. I just used a heat protectant...chi silk infusion. My hair is texturized, but I do have some new growth. it straightened my new growth really well, so it will definitely work on your 4b hair. on thing i did notice is that you have to make sure you comb out each section before you iron it , the little teeth on the plates will pull your hair out if you don't.:perplexed

I have had my Maxiglide since March and I only used it one time. I have been thinking about using it again. I hate the smell of pressed hair so thats one of the reasons why I hardly use it.

The first time I used it I didnt blow dry my hair first and it made it difficult to use so next time I'll do that to make it easier. I have a lot of hair so that is yet ANOTHER reason why I am hesitant about straiting my hair.

Try braiding or twisting your hair into about 5 sections and dry it under a hooded dryer or soft bonnet dryer (i use one of these that attaches to a hand dryer...a bit cumbersome but cost efficient at the moment :)
Your hair gets dry but not bone straight and it should be much easier to maxiglide at this state

Looking good, Shellyb!:yep:

I just got a Maxiglide too(20% off at Bed, Bath, and Beyond) and I LOVE it! Got my hair pin straight and sooo silky.

Viva la Maxiglide!

Thanks MizAvalon....the Maxiglide does straighten better than any flatiron that i've ever used, BUT it makes my hair smell so burnt and it smokes a lot. I'm gonna try it a few more times. it could be something that i'm doing wrong or the products I used (chi silk infusion). Sad to say, but I'm falling out of love with the my Maxiglide.:cry3:

I also used Chi silk infusion when I flat-ironed.

Please don't give up on the Maxiglide just yet. It sounds like you just have the temperature turned up too high. What setting do you have the dial at?

yea, I'm not gonna give up on it, I'll try it on a lower setting. I usually set it on 3 or 4....which I thought was pretty low. I've been wearing my curly twist, so I haven't tried it...i'll probably try again around Thanksgiving,

It could be the heat protectant you used. I used a maxiglide on my friend's hair yesterday. I used a little cantu shea butter creme and her hair came out like butter! It had no burnt smell and her hair was relaxer strait. That helped me to see that i could do this and remain natural. I can't wait to get my maxiglide!:spinning:

Hi DDtexlaxd,
Let me know when you get your Maxiglide.
I'd like to know how it works out for you.

I am a definate MaxiGal! One of the features I really like about Maxi is how I can straighten the short areas of my hair without burning my scalp. I can really get in close with the iron without fear of burns.

As for the weight and bulk issue of the iron it feels substantial in my hand. That makes me less prone to dropping it on my shoulder (ouch..burn) as I did with flimsy weight irons. I feel like I have something to hold onto and work with.

I tried the Chi Silk Infusion ( because of all the raves) and I was like.. huh? What is this stuff supposed to do? Maybe it works for relaxed heads. I don't relax my hair. But maybe I will try the shea butter creme. My hair loves that.

I also tried my Maxi with the Therma Smooth (the line by Mizani) and the results were great.

Long Glide Maxi. Long Glide Maxi. Yah!!!
