I saw a stylist giving a lady a braidout at the salon today, I have NEVER seen someone get that style at the salon. It was so pretty. I was like, that stylist needs to pay LHCF for that one!

how did they do them? did they use any certain products? i've been experimenting with them and mine always come out too poofy!

my sister in law, who is a hairdresser @ her own salon did braidouts on girls with really long hair. But when it got to me, she'd throw direct heat all in my hair, with alcoholic gel and spritz, then chop off all my hair.

i am so sorry for digressing, but yes i have seen braidouts done @ salons

i think our LHCFers do a better job though

ive seen twist outs done which is how i got my first one and ive been doing my own ever since

the lady's hair was also cornrowed, but she had like two braids on each side of her head cornrowed and the rest of her hair cornrowed straight back with a roller at the end of each braid. her hair was already braided when I came it, so I don't know what products she used while doing it. but when she undid the braids, i noticed she picked the lady's hair out with a rat tail comb and used some kind of green mizani spray. her hair was so wavy and pretty like she was ready to go to the beach or something

Do you have to put rollers on the ends of your hair because my hair is only shoulder length and I was wondering would it look longer if I didn't use rollers?

kaykay i would put cold rod rollers on them...i tried it without rollers and it was icky, but rollers didnt make it longer for me, in fact it was shorter, but it gave my hair a wave curl which i liked

I wish I could cornrow my own hair - I've been doing braid outs by doing two 'Pocohontas' style braids and the bottom comes out amazingly but the top is straight. Maybe that's a good thing cause my hair isn't poofy. Hmmm.

I don't think I would ever try getting a twist-out in a salon. One time at home I did one, and instead of letting it air dry overnight like I normally do, I did it in the morning. I was going out that night, so I had to sit under the hooded dryer, and my twist-out just didn't come out the same. It was frizzy and dried-out looking. I guess the hot air did that...

really? my twist out comes out fine with or without heat, maybe its the way im doing mine, i dont do my braidouts like i see people on here do them either. what people do here i would call plaits, i cornrow my hair and corntwist *yeah i made that up* my hair for braidouts or twistouts

just the opposite of me. I have to use heat for my twistouts to look decent. I looked like one of the Muppetts when i let my twists air-dry one time.
