Industry declares formaldehyde in hair products unsafe

There's a new article posted by Environmental Working Group on salons continuing to offer straighteners with formaldehyde despite the risks and recalls abroad. They're got quotes from different salons.

Most of the time I just glance at their investigations, but this is one I know if for real.

BKT set me back years! I will never touch that stuff again. And I hope anyone considering it does a patch test.

I don't think it should be used. There are other ways to straighten hair safely. One of the things about the beauty industry is that people want to reinvent the wheel just to generate sales. I know everyone's got to make money and pay their bills, but not every reinvented wheel is a good idea and if it's dangerous don't do it.
