Is hair type due to race or genetics?

I only skimmed through this thread, but...

I agree that race is a social construct, but those labeled as being a particular "race" tend to share certain genetic traits. These genetic traits were/are used to determine which "race" a person belongs to (at least in the USA). Like there's a tendency for those labeled as "Black" to have type 4 hair, those labeled as "white" type 1 or sometimes type 2 hair, etc. There's always exceptions to the rules though.
 
Its genetics. People are generally categorized by race based on their phenotype which is a result of your genes.
