Is this a moisture or protein problem??

Hey ladies!
Whenever I comb my hair while its wet its fine. But when I let it dry and I comb it there is hair all over the place!!!! Not so much in the comb at all but just all over the floor, on the sink, on the dag bed if im sitting on it! It actually hurts me to comb my hair dry cause it just sounds harsh! I read here to understand breakage and shedding and its just small pieces not any with bulbs so thats breakage right? So I should be focusing on moisture?

yes that's breakage! I dont comb my hair when its dry. What size comb are using? Do you have a leavin in condidtioner? Do you baggy? What is your reggie?

I looked at your fotki, you may need both. I used Nexxus Keraphix and Humectress for the first time and loooooooooooooooved it. Then I followed with Lacio Lacio Leave-in (the best). sealed that with Olive oil. Focus on thosed ends. You have thick hair. Maybe you should not comb dry.

Yes u sound like your hair is in need of a huge dose of moisture, u should DC with more moisture based conditioners (I like Nexxus Humectress) but you can use Elasta QP DPR or Keracare Humecto. Only comb your hair when its drenched in conditioner, also make sure you're using a wide tooth comb, you also need to use a leave-in and seal, your hair should be better after a couple of treatments. HTH

Yeah, you should never comb dry(unmoisturized) hair. I don't know if you are using a moisturizing leave in, but you should follow up with good moisturizer moisturizing your hair in sections with fingers only. After that, then comb and style. HTH.

Well I tried the Keraphix and that was good I think i needed to use more. Then last night I did the Ors replenishing pak and my hair never felt so soft!!!!! And yes I have a nice wide tooth comb. I cant get anything else through it! lol I have been using giovanni leave in and then seal with EVOO but i just started with it. I was thinking I need to do much more for my ends but not sure what I should try.

Your hair is od'd on protein, as I understand it Keraphix is a restructuring treatment (protein) like Emergencee or Aphogee! You need to use a moisturising conditioner like some of the ones I mentioned, ORS is more of a mild protein too with only a little moisture, this may be why you still have breakage, ALWAYS follow up a protein treatment with moisture.

For your ends, Elasta QP mango butter is lurvly it works on my natural hair and my friends' relaxed heads Some ladies swear by the Profectiv for ends. Also keep in mind sometimes your products don't work properly cause there's buildup (even if you can't see it) so you may want to try using a clarifying shampoo before starting the treatments. No more dry combing. and make sure you have a seamless comb (every bit counts) and a creamier leave-in. I think the infusium is water-like.

Well I switched from Infusium to Giovanni Direct which I like much better.
no more dry combing huh? Ok I was mostly doing it before i wash to help detangle and not have huge globs of hair.
