OK, here it is: its taken me time to admit this.......but, I've been lurking here for years....and I have yet to really get it togehter with my hair.

Recently, I read a thread that explains that oils is not considered a moisturizer. Where have I been?? I use oil, only!! Ouch. So, here is my testimony.

Moving along: I'd really appreciate advice from relaxed 4a/b sisters, on what they use to moisturize - step by step. Thanks in advance

Hey! *waves*

I don't really have a regimen. I usually moisturize with something that's water-based, then I seal in the moisture with an oil/oil-based product.

Water-based products I use: Qhemet Olive Cream (luv it!), NTM leave-in, Cantu Shea leave-in cream

Oils/Oil-based products I use: Jojoba oil, coconut oil, Qhemet Amla & Olive Heavy Cream (I'm in luv!), Jane Carter Solutions Nourish & Shine.

I also concentrate the oil-based product on my ends. HTH... :)

I've been using co-washes to moisturize my hair.

-I co-wash every day with a water based conditioner.
-Spray on a leave-in conditioner
-Seal with jojoba oil or WGO
-Then put my hair up in my phony pony which keeps most of my hair moisturized throughout the day. ;)

When winter comes I plan on only co-washing 2-3 X's a week so then I'll probably apply carrot oil to my scalp and use my leave-in conditioner. I also heard Surge 14 is great for moisture but I can't find any.

Wow....thanks for the responses: I honestly thought no-one would respond.

bklynwildheart - where are Qhemet Olive Cream and Cantu Shea leave-in cream sold? Also how do you use the products (while hair is wet or dry, daily, etc)

Aquamarie - Thanks girl on the rec. , but conditioner washes are a no-no for my fine hair.

Thanks again, I would love any more advice.........keep em coming

Is there a national wholesale liquidators store near you? If so, they sell Surge 14....I haven't seen anywhere else. I'm sure you'll find it online though.

On the Cantu, I bought it from someone here. I also think that GiGi's beauty supply sells it: http://www.gigibeauty.com/

As for the Qhemet products, I ordered them from www.curlmart.com
They're an EXCELLENT vendor; I got my stuff 2 days after I ordered!

I use these products both on wet and dry hair. For example: today--after I washed my hair, I detangled, added the Qhemet olive cream, then sealed with the Amla and Olive heavy cream. My hair is nicely moisturized and soft. I also use these products daily on dry hair; either way, it's all good! I think I've found my staples in Qhemet: their products are moderately priced, natural, and a little goes a looong way! :D

On a sidenote: I've gotta thank Priestess for intro-ing me to Qhemet products! (((HUGS)))

You can find the Qhemet products on their webset or at curlmart.com. I just ordered my products from curlmart and they are great! Best customer servies I have had in a minute.

Cantu can be found in lots of places. In your BSS. I even found mine in Kroger. (grocery store)

Good luck with finding the right product for your hair.

I hear a lot of relaxed 4ab use Vitapointe, Nourish and Shine or Healthy Hair butter (carols daughter). I use Keracare Conditioning creme headdress and love it. Or, some use a moisturizing leave-in like Dove Sheer Moisture, Neutrogena Triple Moisture, Humectress or Elucence MB on their ends:)

Wow, thanks: macherieamour, Letitia, bklynwildheart, and Aquamarie. These products sound like a great start. I'll chime in with some reviews, once I figure out which one's to start with....they all sound very tempting. Thanks again

.....headed to www.curlmart.com

Just wanted to say Happy Hair Growing!

I use NTM leave-in and WGO to seal.

The advice from the ladies here has been great. Good Luck!

you've only been using oil as a moisturizer? after being on this board for years? :whip:. ok here are a couple of good moisturizers: Dudley's PCA moisture retainer and Rusk sensories smoother leave-in conditioner. i use both on dry hair (not at the same time though) and they work wonders.
