Hey myztiquecleo!

I got my kinky twists done about 6 weeks ago. The hair for my kinky twists is toyokalon and kanekalon, it's a part of the Femi collection and the item name is Afro soul bulk. It costs about $7 a pack, and I use 1.5 packs. The girl who did my hair is in Gainesville...quite a ways from West Palm Beach...The girl who does my hair does not braid too tight, and is very knowledgeable about proper hair care; she's the only other person than me who touches my and my sister's hair. She charges me $60. I have pics in my fotki of what they look like.

I wash once a week, with diluted Motions and deep condition twice a month. I let my hair airdry. (I may rinse them at night if I sweat too much when working out, cuz it's important to keep the scalp clean.) I moisturize once a week with NTM Silk Touch watered down with Fermodyl 619 and baggy my hair at night. I re-do each braid individually as often as I need to so my hair stays fresh looking and don't get fuzzy. This prevents build-up for me, and also helps them to last longer. I usually keep them in for four months, but I might go six months this time. I also take Evening Primrose Oil (1300 from GNC) and Flaxseed Oil (1/2) and it keeps my new growth soft and moisturized. HTH

My first time too. The young lady used "Jamaican Hair" in a reddish blond color.
It looks very natural, like 4/ab hair texture..I'm really enjoying them. I mix condition and water to spray on them each day. I apply growth aid to my scalp after I have moisturized the hair. I'll be washing once per week..but wetting my scalp with my mix every day. I wear my satin cap when I go to be. I'll be wearing them about the same length of time as your self. Hope this helped.:)

Hi!!! I'm actualy in Tampa, but I do braid hair PT. If you want the kinky kwists long and more sleek, Try the marley braid textured hair. The brands that come to mind are "janet" and "femi". in stead of getting the shorter, curlier pack, get the long, really nappy-lookin packs. You'll need about 3-4 packs. You can cut the pack of hair into 3 sections to get shoulder length twists, or cut in half to get near bra-strap. The kwists last about 8-12 weeks, I wouldn't suggest keeping them in longer. Just gently wash them once a week, and moisturize every other day, and you'll be alright...very cute for your first try BTW!

That's a great first try. I use Tasha brand. I keep them 6-8weeks. I wash them 2X/week.

If they're puffy you might try pulling downward a little harder while twisting. That's usually what makes mine puffy.
