Ladies I need your advice pleaseeee

Hey Im a freshman in college and i am 10 months post relaxer. I have been transitioning with weaves and had a horrible time blending with my last weave install i just took down. I got some more of the same hair that i wanted to use again.

So here is the problem:

I do my installs myself and if i knew how to do a full sew in i would but i cant. I only can do partial sew in's leaving some of my hair out. I mixed up some perm and i am moments of slappin that thing in the area of hair i plan to leave out because i dont know what else to do. Im already dont want to flat iron my hair everyday so i figured this is my only solution. But im so in love with my natural hair and how fast iits growing it kills me that im about to perm my leave out hair. I know its a little bit but is there any other options that i can do???

Can you possibly use different hair that is closer in texture to your own hair? If thats not possible due to monetary constraints I seem to remember a posting from a while ago where someone was showing how you can alter the textural appearance of weave to make it appear more afro textured. Perhaps if you use the search feature it will come up. Hopefully someone else will chime in soon with some alternative solutions for you. Either way I wish you well.....

I agree with the previous poster. I would suggest trying a texture that's similar to your own so you would have to worry about blending the leave out hair. I wouldn't suggest relaxing the leave out hair.

You should also try to rollerset your leave out so you don't have to use heat so frequently or maybe wearing big headbands and other accessories that cover the leave out,don't give up on your hair you'll figure it out

Maybe you should consider whole wigs. That way you don't have to leave any hair out. Is there a reason you HAVE to keep your weaves only? If it's just preference then I understand. But there comes a point in your natural journey that you can't do what you used to do before.

I hope you don't relax your new growth, if you stick it out you'll be happy with the results later.

I agree with candledelight87. I don't know what type of hair you have but if it were my hair, I'd want all of it to "rest" for maximum retension and so would not be a fan of leaving any of my hair out. Even when wearing extensions, when I leave the hair at the front w/o extensions, I keep it twisted so that "all my hair is resting" and I"m not manipulating some all the time and thwarting its progress with the rest.

OP, there's also the idea of cornrowing the hair you leave out so that it "blends" or becomes well disguised.

I don't wear weaves but the first time I considered wearing a phony puff or half wig, I didn't do my homework and went shopping for at the last minute. The ladies at Sally BS who tend to be pretty clueless about what it is they have in stock misled me by telling me some packaged hair was a partial wig. They didn't have anything that looked 4B so I went for 3C as straight was really gonna look off. Well, come to find I got tracks. Had to think fast. I made a partial wig by sewing it onto pantyhose. It not only was silkier than my hair but also a different shade like #2 with some shiny even more blonde highlights. And not only did I have a problem of trying to fake the my hair morphed into someone else's silky tresses, but there was also the growth spurt that looked so fake. I found a net helped compact the hair into a nice full puff but also coz the net was black it added a darkness to the hair. Because the rest of my hair was cornrowed, you couldn't really see how kinky it is compared to the puff. And it is the one do that got me the most compliments from both blacks and whites:

If weaves are you favorite do, then you should really make the effort to learn how to do full weaves. A lot of people who do it now put a lot of effort and I'm sure not many had a lot of flops before they finally got it. If you want something, and you go after it with all you've got, you will get it. Where there's a will, there's a way.

My sis has SL hair and recently got a short full-head weave. Looks soooooo cute! And while it's not my hair, I can't tell you how excited I was to see her not leaving any hair out. She's relaxed so relaxing the left-out hair is not odd, but it's just that I always feel sorry for the hair that is left out in the cold like a homeless unwanted child.

When do you think you will be ready to cut off the relaxed hair and wear your natural texture? If it is soon, I would say bit the bullet and cut off the relaxed hair and start wearing your natural hair.

i think you should look into half wigs...they're cheaper than weave hair most of the time and you can take it off and baby your hair underneath...my sister has been wearing my half wigs for a little over a month, and everyone thinks its a full weave because she only leaves a little hair out in the front, but even the ends of her leave out is tucked under a durag...my friend relaxed her leave out hair and she still had to apply heat to it alot, and ffwd 1 or 2 months later her whole leaveout section broke off down to the new growth...i wouldnt do it if i was you..you can also get a wavier/curlier weave texture if possible so it would be easier to blend your leave out

I agree, I wore alot of half wigs to grow my hair from APL to BSL. I liked this because I could take it off and moisturize my hair each night. Before wearing I soak my wigs in vinegar and water, it helps remove some of that shine. I brush mine a little because I like some frizz to my wigs, they look more real that way IMO because my hair is kind of fuzzy. I braid my hair underneath except for that front part and secure the wigs with large bobby pins. I still keep half wigs on hand for when my hair is "uncooperative" or I need to go somewhere and it's a wash day or something and I haven't styled. The pics below are of 2 different half wigs. The funny thing is I never get asked if my half wigs are my real hair but when I wear my actual hair loose I get asked if its a wig erplexed

MzV1991 Partial weaves that involve blending are NOT protective, its just a bad idea. I believe you should do wigs or if you're adamant about weaving, type in "invisible part weave no glue" on youtube and educate yourself on the technique, it is a full head sew-in technique that allows you to have a natural part in your hair. I think this and wigs are the best way to protect your hair with extensions.
