Ladies who wear Lacefronts (glued) as a PS...

How often do you take your hair down while wearing your LF? I have read u can sleep in them, etc and I'm really curious about getting one as a long term PS. (Trying to stretch my relaxer out 4-6 months) But I don't wanna neglect my hair underneath.

I searched for LF regimens but came up empty. I apologize if the thread is redundant.

I don't use glue on my hair, but many ppl do. And yes you can wear LF's over the long term - sleep, shower, go on vacation and swim in them, etc., basically live in them. You should go to black hair media and check out the lace front forum and you'll get tons of info on how to wear them. Also there are scads of reviewers on youtube. Note though that you do have to be careful with the adhesives on your hair line because with extended wear you're going to lose your hairline.

I have two of them now and I'm still trying to figure out how to get the hairline to look a little more natural. Maybe as they get older they will?

I wear lace units as a protective style and I have been wearing them for about 9 months straight and I have not experienced any hairline loss! So I don't appreciate the comment being factly stated that overtime you will lose your hairline. If you do not apply any adhesive to your hair you should be fine. When the glue gets on top of your hair folicles it blocks the sebum, the hair strand and a natural influx and outflux of moisture, so do not put glue there . I blog about my lace wig wearing experiences if you want to ckeck it out. I like to look at Hair Directs lace wig forum and or products from them because they are wearing lace units because of hair loss issues and are genuine with their posts and reviews. I braid my natural hair under my lace units and I like that my hair has grown because I have not had to comb or brush it everyday like in the past , this has greatly helped me. HTH

I wore lace fronts for about 4 months and it did take my front hair line away due to me not knowing what to do to care for my hairline and even though a sylist installed it may have been improper installation also.

Be very careful with the install and take down process using the glue.

I now where a full lace wig with clips that I love. I hope this helps

i took my down ever week and washed like usual. my hair was dry when i took it off but i had porous hair and PH balance issues i will be fixing soon. if your hair can retain moisture then its a great PS for you. braiding your haur underneath would be even better at keeping moisture. the glue doesnt hold on for a whole week without removing itself some due to the steam in showers and you sweating unless someone mastered this

There is a thread on bhm lf section about sewing elastic on to your lace front so you can wear it without glue. You dont have to glue it down and are able to take care of your hair daily. It has worked for a lot of people. Just an fyi.

Just as the other ladies have chimed in...you can usually get a 5-10 day hold with the proper adhesives, but I remove my unit weekly to shampoo and deep condition my hair and wash my unit to keep it looking fresh. I guess you are really new to lace wigs, because I was just talking like you knew what I meant. Yes, definitely remove the wig properly, C-22 is the best, but you may be able to get away with using 91% alcohol in this heat because a lot of adhesives melt down quickly in the summer when it's hot. I do my own installs and have not had many problems, I watched a lot of you tube videos to get a feel of how to do it. I am a DIY'er all the way when it comes to my hair.

I bought a cheapie synthetic lacefront to practice on. I only practiced once, before giving up. I have alot of baby hairs in the front, how can I keep from the glue getting on them? I'm not trying to lose those hairs (they don't touch my brows, but it treads in that direction)

I try to gel back my edges as best as possible with Giovanni wax pomade (good stuff) or Giovanni styling gel, then I just use a thin brush, like a lipstick brush, and apply a small amount of adhesive around/just in front of my hairline and make sure I place the wig cap where I put the glue. You did the right thing buy practicing on an inexpensive LF because it will take some practice to get it to look as natural as possible without damaging your hair, you can't be lazy or messy with the liquid adhesives. Hope that helps.
