How many ladies on here managed to grow long hair without all the extras...No hair vitamins or special supplements, no growth aids, no special shakes etc... just TLC?

I don't use anything extra. I just stay up on my dcing and also I try lots of different conditioners so I don't have a holy grail line that I'm commited to. I don't do a lot of protective styling althought I'm getting into buns now because I think the can be cute. I just started back ponytail rollersetting, but I do always airdry. I don't take vitamins or supplements.

Me! I focus on keeping my body healthy, so healthy growth is just a "side effect." Then, I just do what's necessary to retain what I grow.

If you consider Chlorella and nettle tea an aid then no, if not, yes. I consider chlorella a super food, as defined everywhere else. And nettle tea is also a food. It's an inside out approach just like eating more fish, and veggies. So by my definition my hair is growing without aids, just with healthy eating(tons of fish, veggies, chlorella) and drinking (nettle tea).

I'm MBL and all i have done is cowash and detangle.

No growth aides, supplements, mixtures, herbs--i don't even eat healthy or work out!

I initially tried vitamins and all that before I started to gain length. I started seeing a difference when I stopped using heat, washed and conditioned more and used protective styling. Then my hair began to transform and now I know for a fact I can reach MBL and longer. I'm just at a stage of seeing what is the best length for me and my lifestyle.

I grew my hair out from a very short (too short to comb) cut in about a year. I was blow drying weekly, flat ironing daily no supplements, and used whatever conditioner and shampoo I happened to have in the house. I was shoulder length in a year or less (probably sooner, I cut it several times before letting it grow to my shoulders)

I am, i was trying to use BT but i used it so inconsistently i don't know if it really counts.

My hair is not super long yet, but the length it's at now was reached through staying consistent with a simple routine and products that work for me.

Years ago when I first started my journey I tried to do the hair vitamins, MSM, and topical growth aides but quickly realized that it was too much of a commitment for me, or I got adverse results.

Your hair is gorgeous!

Everyone of you have gorgeous hair, it's nice to know you don't have to jump through hoops to attain hair like that....ah one day...

I'm going to go out on a limb and say a huge majority of ladies on this board grew their hair with patience and "the basics". Personally, I haven't seen anyone on here claim (with actual proof) that they grew long hair with the extra stuff.

Me. :)
I would say most of the longer hair ladies here don't use growth aids or anything like that. All it takes is patience (lots of patience  ) and a gentle regimen.

Because they don't have any proof.

OP, hair grows. Keep your body healthy and take care of the hair you have. You can't rush it, it just takes time.

No growth aids, tried them for a week - literally - and stopped after my scalp got super dry.

I think a combination of good hair care, exercise and trying to eat as healthy as possible has helped my hair grow nicely.... I have learned not to be impatient with my growth or compare to others and it makes life much easier.

Thanks OP for this thread and thanks ladies for your responses.

Even though I love Chlorella (no pimples since I started yay), I needed to here about being patient. I have noticed no one gives actual proof of ridiculous growth funny with all the growth aide threads. Though I know you can increase thickness, when speed is in question, hair is gonna do what it wants to do.

Actually, I just started using hair vitamins because I can't seem to retain the length of my hair once it gets past a certain point. But for most of my life I've had healthy and relatively long hair. And this is me not using any special hair care treatment whatsoever but a cheap shampoo and conditioner. When I was young, I had hair all the way down my back and I know I ate plenty of junk food, candy, and everything not good for you. Now, I should say that was great back then, but I'm a little older and that's not going to work for me now. I also think everyone's hair is different. Every woman in my family has had beautiful hair so I think a lot of it has been in my genes.

I don't use anything either, but it isn't for lack of trying. I just can't commit to anything like that long term. I do ayurveda (that's half-azs too) for the overall hair health benefits and if I get extra growth, that's just a bonus.

I learned a lot about hair growth when I was locked. My hair was growing and growing and growing and did not look like it. Then all of the sudden I would get this "let down" (that’s what I call it) and then I would see the length. I attribute it to weight of locks getting heavier, and I see it now with my two strand twists, in that they don't shrink as much as I am used them shrinking.

The only thing I did when I was locked was wash my hair with Suave or any other cheapie, and twist my locks with Tui oil or EVOO. By the time I cut them my hair was BSL.

I am seeing that same pattern in my loose natural hair now. Less is more. I try new products for smell. That is pretty much it. If I do a henna treatment, it is once a year. Other than that it grows. Last July I cut my hair in the back off. I was SL. It is April and my hair is almost back.

For me all the stuff mentioned here sounds like "extras" - frequent washing, protective styling, low manipulation, satin scarves, moisture/protein balance - I mean I do it but I still think its extra... :look: with family members that colour and relax every 4weeks, flatiron, sleep with no head wraps all the time, with no regimen and have APL to waist length hair, what I have to do definitely feels "extra"

Yeah, i think that whole patience thing is gonna be my worst enemy. 1 week after my relaxer I was looking for some kind of new growth :lachen:. My hair is just growing way too slow IMO. I know I'll reach my goal one day, I just wish it was yesterday

Right. I have seen no proof of "2 inches in a week" from any outside oils, expensive equine products, etc.:nono: Waste of money IMO.

Until I see those pictures - I will not be a believer. Let's face it - We ( the LHCF sisters) love showing our hair pics off....

I have not seen anything.... Like

"pic1 - Before MT:sad:..............Pic2 After 2 weeks MT:blush:"

" A watched pot never Boils" my dear.

Hang in there.

I haven't used any extras and my hair is between brastrap length and midback length. I find that for me not using heat, co-washing daily, protective styling and consuming enough protein helps my hair grow.

I'm sure soon enough I'll be going through the threads and see you both at WL or longer! lol.

That's what I try to tell people. Most of the ladies MBL or longer have not uses any growth aides or concoctions. You rarely, if ever, see them in threads about MegaTek OCT or Horse stuff. Unless they roll in to go ""

Exactly. And the pictures they do have show nothing. Sometimes I wonder if they imagine and convince themselves of results. But whatever works--for them!
