Hello all. I cannot stand weave any more i HATE them i miss feeling my scalp and new growth. Anyways what are you ladies views on micros, have any good results, how do you maintain them? Oh and does anyone have any pictures i could show my stylist. By the way i cannot have "pencil" sized braids, they get soooo messy and so do the ones a bit smaller thats why im turning to micro's

thanx in advance e.c

i dunno...micros can be death to your hairline...some stylists pull too tight and use too little hair in each section....

I have micros that I did myself. I think they can yield excellent results if you take extra care of them while they are in. Also much extra care needs to be used when they are being taken out.

I just got my micro braids and I love them. I also heard that they can be torture on your hair, but I have been told that if your keep them moisturized and don't keep them up too long, then you should not have any problems. I've had braids before, but never this small. Take a look at my album if you want to get a good idea on how small they are.

If your hairline is weak, I would suggest going with a larger braid than micros. But, if you think that you can take it, then give them a try. They are also a pain to take out. I hated them more because of the removal time than anything. I had help and it still took forever!!!! Good luck in whatever you chose. If you know your hair and its limits, that is the first step to making a good style choice.

BTW, in my experience, micros can get "messy" too. No braided style is going to stay neat like it was first done if you are washing them regularly. Also, don't leave them in too long if you can help it. I kept mine around 5-6 weeks. I was told I could keep them 3 months and I just couldn't conceive of that.

Well i am not going to wash them, thats for sure. I'm going to see how long i can go. My hair use to grow alot b4 i came to this site, i just didn't know how to keep the legnth and i didn't wash them.

Angel, your braids look lovely. I really want small braids, but I just think about taking them out!

I have gotten them twice in my life and they looked beautiful, but taking them out was a nightmare. I also lost a lot of hair during the removal, mostly due to my impatience. I'll never get them again.

Thanks guapa1,

I know what you mean about taking them out. I try not to think about it because when I do, I want

. When I got them in this time I told myself that I would take them down over two days. I figured that I would start in the middle wear a ponytail until I remove the edges. Or I will just have to recruit a couple of friends for a braid take-down party.

i agree with you. the only micros i'll wear are the ones i do myself. that way you can control the tightness and amount of hair used. i think proper care also has a lot to do with it.

I have micros and so far so good. The only problem is concealing the new growth in the middle of my head. The FEW days I inconsistantly moisturized my hair line I noticed little white bulbs popping up. Just make sure you stay on the grind with moisturizing.

I love my hair in braids. I can't wait to braid my hair again, but you do have to make sure the braider doesn't braid it too tight. I braid my own hair so I can make sure it isn't braided too tight.
