Miss Jessie's Has A How-To Video on Youtube

I had mixed feelings as I was watching this. When the video started I was like, okay her hair looks a dry mess, is it supposed to look like that. Then I realized that was just the b4 pic.

As she was putting all of that product n her hair, of course I was wondering does it really take that much or is this just a sales tactic. It seems 2 me that these r the same results that I get w/KCCC. I'll be honest- even though alot of you ladies said that this seems like 2 much work, when I do my hair w/KCCC, it takes me over an hour, going section-by-section.

I've never tried letting it dry under a hooded dryer. When I want 2 stretch, I just dry each section 90% dry w/a diffuser & a hand dryer. I also liked the tip about blowing the roots 4 more volume.

Inspite of all of the seemingly negative, I give it up 2 her, I loved the finished product. Her haircut, IMO, is on point. I'm on the fence about the color but I don't think it's awful.

Because this seems faster, once I'm done w/my weave challenge I may try these 2 products out. If I do, of course I'll let you ladies know. LOL

I pretty much have the same thoughts. I personally like some of their products, however, don't have the time/patience to follow through their styling methods. The basic table top dryer you get for your home doesn't give as much coverage as the professional dryers, therefore it takes FOREVER to dry. I take from their instruction what I can. I don't use nearly as much product as she does or spend that much time fingerstyling. Although I like the Stretch Silkening Creme (wish I held on to the quick curls and tried together), I find my results are just as good, if not better with Fantasia IC Gel. My only problem with the gel is that constant use can be drying with all the protein, so I like to switch up or mix with the silkening creme.

I do believe she does have a silkener, so her results styling this way may indeed last her through the week, and for her it's worth it....for me on my natural hair, I can only get maybe 2 or 3 days out of my wash & go's, so applying all that product and spending that much time under the dryer does not work well with my schedule or my patience, lol. I "finterstlyled" my hair this morning and was done within 35-40 mins between washing, applying product, and diffusing dry. In addition, styling that way over using a diffuser results in flatter hair with less volume unlike her hair that she can still achieve volume after sitting under a hooded dryer and blowing out. I do use the tips for stretching at the roots to create more volume when I feel like it.

I don't think her end results look bad at all. Yes, I think her dye job has taken it's toll on her locs, but looking past that knowing it is what it is, I love her hair cut and the end styling of her hair. I used to go there for my haircuts before the salon shut down a few years ago. I may try the Quick Curls with the Silkening Creme and see how that works on my hair. It's up to everyone to understand the reality of their own hair, lifestyles, and pockets and make whatever styling/product decisions based on that.

so, pretty much, its not wash 'n go, right? But, thats pretty misleading because its called Quick Curls? Can you apply any of the Miss Jessie's products and just walk out the door or do they all take some time? I know Scandalous Beauty did a video on the curly pudding and she got definition with her wash n' go. Also, can any of these curling products be that easy to use?

Well I guess i should clarify, for everyone else it may not be considered a wash & go, but MY "wash & go's" involve diffusing because I can't stand wet hair. For me it's as simple as washing, rinsing, apply some product (which takes 2 mins if even, and diffusing 70 to 100% dry). I was using that term more to refer to myself rather than Miss Jessie's styling routine.

It looked the same without the frizz. Very pretty but too much product especially at that cost. Someone could get the same results with some leave-in conditioner, Fantasia IC gel, or KCCC.

Folks stay making ugly comments about nappy hair like you talking about a disease or something. Yall kill me.
Not trying to save nobody, but I think her hair looks bad because of overprocessing. It looks fried, not nappy. I doubt her new growth looks like that. Lifting hair color that much always makes it look dry and crispy in my opinion. Then throw a "silkener" on it too and she's doing too much.

When my hair was over processed I used a lot more product to make it look more moisturized and give it sheen and make it more curly and bla bla bla. Without all those chemicals my hair is good with just coconut oil to give it ridiculous shine.

I see where you're coming from curlee_lurker, but, I don't have a relaxer/silkner/texturizer, etc, but if I dry my hair without product it is frizzy, bushy and dry as is the case with MOST afro curly, kinky, NAPPY hair, so, a blanket "her hair looks crunchy" statement is, well, a jab at the nature of kinky/curly/nappy hair.

And I totally agree, that's too much product and too much processing.

her hair is really thick! Geez, i love it! but yea, the thing i like with the hairstyle is that it lasts a week. Just rewet a little and go, so in essence its only once a week you would be doing that. I would airdry instead of sit under the dryer. And the blowdryer part is unnecessary. WHen i do wash and goes, I rake through some product over a leave in, scrunch a lil and airdry.

All that for some curls? If you have to do all that then....

LOL.

If you already have curls then it shouldn't take all of that, IMO. Her hair was curly either way, though, so I'm not sure why she had to do all of that. I prefer for my leave-in/gel application to take less than 5 minutes.

I do admit, her hair does look good though.

I have to say that I like the way it looks in the after. The before she looks like a natural (or semi-natural) with no product in her hair. I also have to say if I can get two or three days of hair that looks like that without a puff...I'm all over it. I can easily stretch to a week once it gets frizzy with my assortment of trusty headbands.

ITA with you ladies...I am texturized just like she is and I certainly don't have to do all that to get those results. I like how her hair is colored even though I think the color is a little too light.

I can't wait to my hair is that long and pray that it willl be big like that. I would definitely show a stylist a pic of her hair is I wanted a cut and/or color.

Hmm, i don't think she has a texturizer

She does per this interview

http://afrobella.com/2007/04/30/afrobella-of-the-week-titi-branch-miss-jessies-entrepre-bella/

For those of you who have gazed at Titi’s mane and instantly want that for themselves, she’s got news for you. “My texture is kinky too. I have a silkener. I do. If you see pictures of me in some of the press articles, I do have a silkener. Why do I have a silkener? Because I don’t have time to do my hair, to spend the time that it would take to do it natural. It’s just a personal decision. I want to just be able to wash it, condition it, rinse it out, put product in it, and let it dry and get curly. That’s how I like to do my hair,” she said.

It is sooooooooo obvious she has a texturizer. Her hair is so unnaturally inconsistent and stringy. She is the posterchild for a bad texturizer over time.

I think that her hair is cute, I love big hair. But no it doesn't take all of that to have curly hair if it's going to be curly. Natural or texlaxed I throw some styling product on in the shower, let it air dry, and it's curly. I'm betting that she could do the same and chooses not to.

Nope. You kill yourself considering that no one said anything about her hair being nappy. You can clearly tell that she texturized her hair and quite frankly, it doesn't look very good. Very stringly, instead of curly. But, since you want to be the nappy vigilante and what-nots. You really shouldn't put words in people's mouths because you just made yourself look all kinds of irrational right there.

:lachen::lachen::lachen::lachen::lachen:

lawd I swear LHCF has jokes for days...thats funny right there. :lachen:

I think her hair looks very nice and full. I don't like her hair color, but it works for her. Her hair looks very moisturized in the after picture.

I wonder if Miko uses the texturizer from her own salon. To be brutally honest, her head looks a hot mess. I would not want her curl pattern at all. Too crunchy looking.

somebody already answered...she does use the silkner...I agree.

I think you are taking "crunchy" out of context. The way I see it, and the way I read her comment of "her hair looks crunchy"...it's like when someone uses too much product that makes their hair hard and dry...hence crunchy to the touch. I definitely have never heard or used it in terms of someone with kinky hair.

Her hair looks fine to me. I don't see what's stringy about it.
yea, it looks fine to me. The color is too much, but her hair is hella thick and still very curly. At the end of the day, there are so many different curl types and what may work for one, may not work for another. Some can slap some leave in and gel and others need a little more work. It's all up to the look you are going for and what your hair can and cannot do. Her hair CAN curl, maybe just not as frizz free and plump as others.

oh really? i need to watch it again. i did not notice. i love the color but the biggest problem is dryness and how it compromises some of the curl. other than that i would continue but i am on a highlight hiatus.

Thanks for the video! Nice curls but I don't think someone would need all of that to achieve that. Why not just use a rich inexpensive conditioner instead? Works the same. Save money. But it doesn't hurt to try it out......

The before looked like natural hair w/o any product. The after looked like natural hair with product and body..so to me it did look better. The color is horrible to me personally. And yes it is obvious she has some type of chemical.

I too wish they would show a variety of textures in these videos and on their website. They are pushing their chemical services in every promotion. I mean even the folks who went in initially for non chemical services you see in their pictures that they eventually decide for a chemical in the end. It's like wow can you show some 4a hair or something. I would love to see Southernbella up there using those products.
