Ladies I need your help!

I got the bright idea (:badidea:) to put twist in my hair using a deep conditioner(QP Elasta DPR-11) and left it in for a couple of days.
Well the end result is over moisturized mushy hair that is breaking and shedding all over the place. :pullhair:
How can I correct this and how long will it take? :wallbash::wallbash::wallbash:

Aphogee has a 2 min reconstructor that's an awesome protein treatment ( which your hair needs). Any brand of protein treatment should help. HTH

Awww MAN! I am so sorry you are going through this, but sooo THANKFUL that you posted this because GIRRLLL I was about to do the exact same thing NO LIE NO LIE.

I twisted my hair straight out of the shower LATHERED HEAVILY with DPR. I got back in shower and rinsed all of it out or so I thought. But, when I woke up my twist were still wet so I was squeezing conditioner still out. It eventually semi-dried and when I took my twist down a few days later my hair was SOOO MOIST and soft. Apparently some of the DPR was still intwined in my twist.

So girl I was about to just use DPR to do the twist forrreal this time. And I pray that you find a way to correct the over moisturerizing, but thank you for positing this information. I am truly grateful.

Ugh. I would do a light protein treatment. See if that brings you back to normal or even a little moist of normal. Than you can do another light protein treatment. Just to make sure you don't go from one extreme to another. Are you nappy? or relaxed? I am nappy.....so that is why I recommend the above.

OT OT OT...

Original Poster my goodness...that man is FIONE! Usually alot of folks have brothas and othas in their signature nice looking men. But, I saw your guy a few weeks back as I was scrolling fast through a thread...hahaha girl you should have saw me workin' that mouse all the way back up the thread to inspect your chocolate gentleman. My goodness! That's the 2nd man to make my ovaries ache. lol.

Too much moisture? What is that? Can't help you. Can't relate!

Lol, I've left conditioner on for a few days and my sucks it up and asks for more. C'est la vie I guess??

Gorgeous is right--> you need protein ASAP.

I'm nappy...which is why I thought my hair would be able to take the heavy conditioner...but my hair is so limp and mushy...I have never seen it like this. :wallbash:

I'm going to try the Aphogee...hopefully that will work.

Do a light-medium protein twice a week until the problem is fixed. You can try ORS Mayo, Motions CPR, Millennia Mud Reconstructor, Aphogee 2 Minute Reconstructor, Sally's GVP Reconstructor which is the knockoff version of Joico K-Pak. Sistaslick has said that Joico makes the best protein conditioners out there and GVP is the bidness! :yep:

Moisture overload is harder to recover from than protein overload, so give your hair time to get back to normal. Just stay consistent with the light-medium protein and eventually the problem will be fixed

:bighug:

For me, moisture overload has always been easy to get rid of - stop moisturizing my hair for a couple of days, and it'll dry right back up! If you really want to do something to it, a protein treatment (light one, you don't want to swing the pendulum the other way!) and give your hair time to dry, and see how it feels. Good luck!

Yep - co-signing on all of the light protein treatment advice. Waiting after each treatment to see how your hair reacts is good advice too.

Yep. I agree. Nappy hair might only need a little bit of protein to kick back. I let a couple sprays with protein do all the work for me. I don't have a protein treatment in the building.

Ugh where are y'all getting these new fangle make my hair look even prettier gadgets? In ur signature last picture to the right? either you are the 2nd person I've seen with it or you just did a new hair style.

I guess I'm the 2nd person you've seen wear one. This is the 1st picture I've taken wearing it. I bought it over 10 years ago at a festival in Northern Cali. If I find out where you can get one I'll let you know. I want another one b/c it is one of my favorite accessories.

I came into this threading hoping to learn how you got moisture overload so I could try it on these thirsty naps of mine!!!:lachen:

I use a deep conditioner as a leave-in on the regular. It's the only thing that keeps my hair from drying out and breaking off. I dont' usually leave in the DPR-11, I leave in the Suave Humectant.

I have left the DPR-11 in before, too, though, and it helped with moisture, but nothing extreme.

Yeah, co-sign on the light protein treatments. Good luck!

It's called a HairZing - there are a couple of members with them. Google HairZing, and the website should come right up.
There is also something similar called the African Butterfly....

Oh snap..i just had to do a protien treatment last night b/c my hair was mad mushy and uber soft..moisture overload..i was usuing the hydrospritz and vitaka frosting wayyyyy too much and my hair was super limp..pooed then did a nexxus kerafix treatment overnite..only b/c i was too tired to get in the shower again for a rinse..then last night i put some mayo and egg and sat under the dryer for about 45 mins...rinse and it was tangled so i did a the aussie 3 min in the shower for some slip...and it worked...rinsed, and did a pony roller set, and its much better..i am gonna chill out on the moisture or at east not use it everyday..maybe 2 or 3 times a week..but its feeling much better, but i will still do another lite protien in 3 days..maybe motions cpr...

Okay, so I plan on doing the 2-step Aphogee treatment tonight but I know after you do a protien treatment you usally have to deep condition. Should I skip the deep condition and just air dry after I wash out the Aphogee treatment?

Ladies I need your help!

I got the bright idea (:badidea:) to put twist in my hair using a deep conditioner(QP Elasta DPR-11) and left it in for a couple of days.
Well the end result is over moisturized mushy hair that is breaking and shedding all over the place. :pullhair:
How can I correct this and how long will it take? :wallbash::wallbash::wallbash:
your siggy is :lick::lick::lick::lick::lick:

I would judge that on how your hair feels after you wash the treatment out...mines had no slip and a bit of tangles so that why i did the aussie 3 mins in the shower..

Thanks, I think to be on the safe side I will just use the conditioner that comes with the pack. I have never seen my hair break like this, finger comb my hair broken hairs come out :nono:...I'm always careful with the protein but it seems like moisture is no joke. :nono:

This happened to me last month. It was major moisture overload. I has to use aphogee 2 min. twice in a row. And a third time later in the week to get it up to par. I didnt need to dc afterwards. I just used a cheapie conditioner for slip purposes. I didnt want to dc and mess things up again. I airdried in a braidout.

I didn't read your message, I was too distracted by the siggy :lick:

...then I moved down and thought was was the original Q again

I'd start off with a mild protein like Aphogee 2 min like another poster mentioned. Or you could go straight for a heavier one and try a reconstructor. Fortunately, moisture overload is easier to correct that protein overload.

I don't think you should jump right in with the Aphogee 2 Step, especially since you're natural. Start off with lighter stuff like Aphogee 2 Minute Reconstructor.

If you do use Aphogee 2 Step, you HAVE to dc afterwards. And not with the Aphogee conditioner, it's not nearly moisturizing enough! Almost every Aphogee horror story I've read happened because the person only used the Aphogee conditioner and didn't dc with something more moisturizing

I just did some digging :)

That FINE MAN is Lance Gross, Eva' Pigford's man.

Sorry for taking the thread off topic

wowsers! I never knew there was such a thing...

Maybe this is why my colored/relaxed hair has been alright up until now. For almost a year I have neglected to sleep with conditioner in my hair overnight like I always like to do. It never mattered when I was natural, 'cause I was shake and go, but since I was relaxed I felt my hair was missing something.

So...last friday I washed with the elasta creme shampoo, conditioned/combed out with lekair orange and rinsed, and left in lekair shea butter type for over 15 hours and when I tried to comb out it was mush, and my sis [who does my awesome rollersets] could not figure out why my hair was so uncombable and frizzy at the ends. I know it was my hard water but I guess the overconditioning didn't help.

she was able to comb my hair out and it looks fantabulous, but it is really 'coated' I can't explain it, it is beautiful, but when I comb it, it sheds, oh ho hum

This thread is really shedding light on stuff :)

I was doing the same thing, he is beautiful. Thank God for chocolate:lick:
Isn't he from that show House of Payne, I don't know his name.
