my hair caught on fire

Just had to share this story. A couple weeks ago on my bday, my hubby and I went out dancing. Well, we were both drinking and since Im such a light weight drinker, it didnt take me much to get really tipsy...anyway, Im dancing near the bar and next thing i know, these two girls are yelling "your hair's on fire, your hair's on fire!" One girl started patting it and a couple others were pointing and laughing (prob bc they thought it was weave). Turns out there was a candle sitting on the bar and my hair landed inside of it. I ran my fingers through my hair and all these little crispy burnt hairs were in my hand. And the burned hair smell was in the air. We left after that. My ends were so frazzled and one part of my hair was noticably shorter. Sorry, havent taken any pics
 
Today is a sad day:perplexed

How much damage did you have? Are we talking about burned inches??? I am super sorry about that.
 
That's awful! Not only that you burned your hair (which is bad enough on its own), but that people would point and laugh at what could have possibly been a life-threatening situation.

Would you have to trim off the singed parts? Or just baby it till it returns to normal? I'm sorry this happened to you. :(

My thoughts exactly. I'm sure people were thinking it was a weave, just like she said. And that still wouldn't have been funny.
 
Sorry to hear this happened to you. That was definitely NOT a laughing matter and I thank God the fire didn't get out of hand. I sure hope you will be able to save those ends because your hair is so pretty. I'm glad you're ok (the most important thing). Seriously this could have happened to anyone with long hair sober or not.
 
That's awful. What's wrong with people? There's nothing funny about that at all. I'm glad you are OK, though.
 
:perplexed thats terrible! I can't believe ppl were actually pointing and laughing...would it still have been funny if your clothes caught on fire?!!!:nono: *sigh* so sorry that happened to you...
 
Sorry to hear about this. This happened to me and I posted a thread about it. Someone gave it one star :ohwell: but it is a very dangerous situation. Thank God you are ok and your hair will grow back. I ended up having to cut the burt ends off.
 
thanks so much ladies for your support. I only cut off a little bit of the frazzled ends (not too much) and I've really been babying my hair. I've been doing deep conditionings a lot.

Man I am SO sorry this happened to you :sad: I hope you are able to recover and that you won't have to lose much length because of this. Please keep us updated.
 
Oh no!! So sorry to hear this happened to you espically on your special day. So glad you the fire was caught before it reached your skin or clothing.
 
So glad it wasn't worse, which it could have been.

Fortunately the hair will continue to grow.:yep:

We have become a very unfeeling world.

On the bright side, at least you weren't injured.

ETA: I can't believe people were actually laughing. How horrible.
 
I'm sorry that happen god forbid anything else more serious like that and probably even life threatenting did not happen. That is not a laughing matter shame on you whoever they wa god will surely handle that. Anyways keep your head up ma! It will get better and pray about too
 
There's nothing funny about someone on fire period...not to mention someone's hair. I hope you are feeling better!! Just be thankful it wasn't worse!
 
Those people laughing shoulda been ashamed of themselves!!! But I'm really sorry you went through that but I hope you didn't suffer too much damage.
 
So sorry this happened. How awful! Please stay far far away from any candles and intoxicating drinks going forward :spinning:
 
Omgoodness, I am sooooo sorry. All of your beautiful long hair, I hope that it's not too bad. I'm really sorry that this has happened :(
