After weighty debate in my mind, I decided to go ahead and texturize my hair. I got so tired of debating inside my own mind and at the same time got tired of my shrinked up, tightly wound hair that demanded repetitive twisting or braiding for me to be able to work with. Moreover, the change was also propelled by a professional transition - a more demanding and unpredictable schedule that will sometimes require me to make on-air appearances - and I could not risk looking crazy on camera on an off-day where my twist-out was way past its prime.

So I got the Silk Elements texturize in regular and my husband applied it for me. Total application and processing time was about 13 minutes. I am sitting here with a heating cap on my head right now with lots of conditioner. Upon my first look at it, it still looked really natural, but with more of a looser kink and softer texture.

The final results are not in, but I will post when they are. I just wanted to let y'all know and blame Ginsana (?) and Modelchick for their albums helping to motivate me if all goes wrong. /images/graemlins/wink.gif

My digital camera is broken. /images/graemlins/frown.gif

Hopefully, it'll be fixed or replaced with a week or so.

Congrats! My husband did my relaxer once (and he might be doing my next one! /images/graemlins/lachen70.gif!) LOL! It went just fine. /images/graemlins/smile.gif I am sure your hair looks great!

Congrats Options!!!! Texturized hair is so much fun /images/graemlins/smile.gif. Welcome to the club. So what were the final results?? What new things can you do w/your hair? How are you wearing it now??

I'm on my way over to hairboutique.com to buy my PhytoRelaxer /images/graemlins/wink.gif. The Mister knew he was trimming my hair, but he's also doing my touch-up and correction. /images/graemlins/rofl.gif

I am pleased with the outcome. Now that it's dry, I can see that I probably could have left it on longer in some spots. All of it loosened up though ... we started on the crown of my head, where it's the kinkiest and then made our way all around the perimeter.

I am thinking I might want to loosen it up some more. How long should I wait before potentially re-texturizing certain areas.

Last night, I just put it in two huge cornrows and this morning I unraveled them for the look it usually takes me hours to get thru a twist- or braid-out. The shrinkage is severely lessened ... I can actually pull it in a ponytail now. Before that was a total impossibility!

I don't know if I can wash and go yet. I brought some satin rollers and will be doing a roller set on damp hair today. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I would wait at least 6 weeks, longer if possible. Might as well correct when you have new growth to touch-up as well, otherwise your touch-ups will be rather close together.

I have a section that was not properly done the first time(1-2" of underprocessed hair)...that was 10 weeks ago. Hold on for as long as possible. I'm going for week 15...underprocessed areas and all..lol.
