I want to participate in those insert threads! Been doing this natural thing almost 2 years so I would like a final answer on the texture. When I've asked before I was told 4a/4b but now that it's growing more I think it's changed. Anyone else unsure can post your pictures here also but me first lol

The top does whatever it wants it is wavyish but curls on the ends.

I think 4a. And I love this btw :)

Looks 4a to me. My hair does that same exact thing though! Its more coarse in the front and gets silkier and silkier as it goes back.

mostly 4a I would say. I don't see any 4b, but your hair is gorgeous! I love the color

I think 3c. Your hair looks to soft when pulled back to be in the 4 family so I put you in 3. I say "C" because your curls are tight but still defined.

Type 4 hair can be soft as any other hair type. You have soft 4a and coarse 4a just like any other hair type. Hair typing has nothing to do with softness or coarseness. It's a way to classify hair by curl diameter (in curly to kinky hair).

4a hair can have defined coils and waves. It IS coily. Very small curls. When you lay a curl or coil down, you get waves.

Sometimes it seems that the sight of coils or waves makes people think it's not type 4. While the definition of type 4 is small coils. Not that I'm mad or anything... just saying,

I think 3c with some 4a. The 4a waves that I've seen tend to be much more shallow. I've never seen 4b with loose deep waves like yours.

I see 4A with 4B. There's a lot of penspring sized coils. The nape has the most curl definition.

I think 4a. Looks like my hair....I don't really see 4b much and if its there its not dominant or even half and half so I think mostly 4a....where the heck is Nonie ?

:p @LaFemmeNaturelle I was just reading the thread when you posted. :giggle:

I see both 4A and 4B. The back is clearly 4A but the front reminds me a lot of my 4B hair.

The first two photos remind me of my hair after it's been manipulated either because it came out of a stretched style before I wet it or because I combed it:

The next two photos remind me of my hair when I finger comb it instead of using a comb:

The back looks very much like 4A hair. Coils are larger and clump the way 4A coils do. So perhaps 4A/B might be a close estimate?

lol Thanks it was funny how you said it.

I dont think so, and IA her hair is beatiful I love the color, Moustacey do you Henna?

I used Henna 8/1 and it made me want to shave my head. My hair would not act right at all it was rough and dry and messed up luckily it is back to normal now. I used regular Herbal Henna.

I thought 4a too with some 4b at the front. The waves look 3C but I cant see 3c ends.

I added more pictures.

I like ur hair! it reminds me of mine.. I claim 4a :yep:

Thank ya

Thanks! I've been experimenting lately.

I luv ur styles and ur frames

4a/4b

It's very pretty :)

Thanks!

I see mainly 4a with a little 4b. Very nice styles you got goin on there.

Thank ya.

Thanks I dyed my hair 7/16 with some Garnier color and it didn't take lol I don't know where the orange is from maybe because I work in the sun.

ohh lala, id say 4a. your hair is very pretty, i like your hair style in that second to last pic

Thank you that was one of my better ones lol

4a/4b

your styles are so cute!

Thanks Miss.

I think 3c with some 4a. The 4a waves that I've seen tend to be much more shallow. I've never seen 4b with loose deep waves like yours.

I just wanted to know which part is 4b so I can try different things to that area though from what has been described about 4b my hair doesn't act that way. I have no sharp zig-zags.

I see 4A with 4B. There's a lot of penspring sized coils. The nape has the most curl definition.

What's funny is I don't see any penspring ones someone point me out.

I have no idea but your hair SHO IS PRETTY :D

lol Thanks.

Thanks I was waiting to hear from you again lol I could of swore I had 3 or 4 diff textures going on.

I don't think anyone's hair has got sharp zigzags. Any such oddities are created by braiding or some form of manipulation. If you were to take 3 soft springs and plait them together, I bet you'd have corners that look zigzag like my hair does immediately out of a braid:

Same hair section finger combed:

Same section after I washed it but still wet:

Same section completely dry (first pic stretched; second, at rest):

If you stretched out a spring and looked at it from a certain angle it would look zigzag too, so maybe that's another reason for the confusion:

If hair did grow zigzag, we'd have some crazy-looking TWAs that look like lightning artwork and somewhat dangerous to get close to.

See, that has confused me in the past too. No one I've ever seen has literally a lightning bolt hair texture. To this day, I really dislike the zig zag definition.

I say:

3c = Small ringlets
4a = Very small springs/coils/curls (under the diameter of a pencil)
4b = Tiny springs/coils/curls (tends to have less definition than 4a)

All of this has nothing to do with how soft or coarse your hair is, just the diameter of the curl.

My hair is a very coarse 4a, tends not to behave the same way laides with a "silkier" texture behaves, but the coil size is what makes it 4a

IMG_0711-vi.jpg

Sometimes when you get some length and weight on it, the coils can stretch out some. It's perfectly normal.

Your hair really does look to be mainly 4a with a little 4b to me.
