Hi my beautiful natural sistas!.. I'm newly natural again and have only about an inch of growth. I did the big chop about two weeks ago. At that time, I also had her clean up the nape of my neck... It's rounded. I'm wondering if that was the right thing to do though. I want a natural look once I start wearing pony tails. So my question is...
Do you edge up your neck into a certain shape, Or do you just let it grow natural?
And what do you do with the two long peaks that grow down your neck on each side?

I wear wigs and edge up my nape. Given the length of the wig(s) that I wear (a little shorter than shoulder length), I am self conscious that my nape looks unkempt. When I start wearing my hair out or wearing longer length wigs, I probably won't bother.

ETA: I cut the "peaks" so my nape line is straight across or close to it.

I was just wondering how a straight nape looks with a pony tail

Sounds like it doesn't matter one way or the other so I guess I'll just leave it alone. But if it looks unkempt I'll have to dress it up a little... I'm very hairy and my two peaks grow very thick and long. Thanks ladies for all your comments...

My two peaks in the back are really long and shorter than the rest of my hair (and I wear my hair up 90% of the time). So I have been dedicating extra care to my nape to get it to grow long enough it can fit into my updo.

To blend my nape and prevent it from sticking out while my hair is up I put my two peaks in tiny loose flats twists going up and add them to the longer hair above it which then makes it blends really well with my curls. I also try to moisturize that area nightly and avoid pulling it too tightly.

I'm natural and have peaks. When I wore a close barbered cut, I'd get them shaved into a rounded shape all the time. But now that I've let my hair grow, it's never occurred to me that they might need trimming, but I'm not squeezing my hair into a pony tail either. I guess if/when I do want a pony tail, I'll just throw some water and gel back there. No desire for edging.
