hey ladies!! I'm ready to do another rollerset. But this time I wanted to try it with no setting lotion and just keeping it moist with my water/condish mixture in my spray bottle...I did this on a relaxed friend of mines hair and it turned out great but since I'm natural I didn't kno if I 'd get the same results has anyone done this or routinely does this with success?? If so are there any suggestions you have?

no setting lotion...I use oil and water...sometimes only lacio lacio...i used qp mango butter one time. It just really depends. either way I get hold because I dont use too much of anything. but I never use the setting lotion. I had foam wrap lotion but i took it back to sally's

^Yep I only use Chi Silk Infusion and Giovanni Direct Leave In. I'm experimenting with GVP Paul Mitchell The Conditioner as well.

I have never done a rollerset, but I will say that when I do braids or twists, coconut/vatika oil gives me great hold. If I were to rollersets, I would do the same.

I tried roller set and twistout with setting lotions and both times my hair came out dry and crunchy. Next time I'm going try using leave-in conditioner, GVP silk infusion, moisturizer, and little coconut oil.

did you try the roller set?

I'd love to hear/see your results

even when I was relaxed I never like setting lotion on my hair.

I had trouble finding setting lotions that wouldn't leave my hair crunchy, so I went back to an oldie, but a goodie-UltraSheen Super Setting lotion (about 1 oz lotion vs 7 oz of water). My hair turned out great and it really doesn't feel like I used setting lotion (see rollerset in siggy). I also use Cantu shea butter leave-in and Chi Silk Infusion

I have had successful sets without it, but to me they didn't last quite as long and reverted more easily
