For all my natural ladies here... What do you do with your hair immediately after washing, rinsing, or wetting your hair with water???

Do you braid it up? Twist it up? comb it out in sections? Put it in a ponytail? Shake and go? Let it dry loose and unmanipulated?...What do you do?

Also, please indicate how long is your hair when stretched.

I look forward to your responses. Thanks in advance! :)

On a regular day, after washing/rinsing I apply my leave in's (Jamaican Mango Lime Cactus Leave in and BBD Stretch) and tie my hair up in a micro fiber towel to absorb some of the water and to allow body heat to allow the stretch to penetrate. Then I usually apply a moisturizer, currently Curly Buttercreme till it runs out, and some Fantasia Thick n' Shine gel to smooth my hair back into a low puff. I'll also sometimes use Paul Mitchell Conditioning Styling foam on the "puff"

I haven't straightened my hair in a looooong time, but the back layer is slightly passed shoulder length, not yet armpit length I think.

Hey Poohbear

I recently BC'd (almost a week ago) so I am new to this. After washing I detangle with MNT detangler and moisturize with MNT CON, and let that sit for about 15 mins before going ahead and moisturizing my scalp with my special concoction of butter/oil mix. I then use Aveda Brilliant Spray on Shine as a final touch and thats that! I rock an afro now, about 3-4 inches in length so I am not dealing with much hair.

As it gets longer though, I will start doing twist outs with Asha's products, and leave them overnight and just untwist in the morning to rock a well defined curly look :)

after washing and conditioning, i do not comb my hair. i apply leave in and scrunch in. then i apply rusk wired and i always seal in moisture with castor oil

once I get out of the shower I apply luqix(for my seborric dermatitis), followed by scurl and then grapseed oil. I let it air dry and that's it. Usually, it is still dry to the touch so I add a little more scurl & oil. If I comb it I only do so when it is wet(usually after applying scurl) then I just go over the top of my hair w/the grapeseed oil.

Usually after I wash and condition I apply some sort of leave in conditioner and two strand twist my hair with shea, coconut oil, and I have just started using alittle mango butter. I have yet to wear a wash and go, or any other styles.

My hair is different lengths, the top is at mid neck the back is at my shoulders.

Hope this helps

After washing my hair I normally twist it up. I really like the versitility that wearing twists give. I can wear the twists themselves for a week and then unravel them and wear a twistout. So far I've gotten my previous twist-out to last 4 days, and the one I'm wearing now is about to out do that record. I plan on trying comb coils, box braids, and flat twists to see which style gives me the most wear out of it! Of course of all these will be done on wet hair. It's the only way I can style my hair.

Also, I want to try a shake n' go again because I don't think I did it right the first time. PB, when I was looking through your album I noticed that you said you added gel. I take it that you did it after you co-washed, but how did you apply it --- in sections, a dab here or there?

TIA,

lovelymissyoli

After I wash I usually apply a leave in (NTM silk touch) and spritz some oil and braid into four sections. When it's damp I start twisting using curl activator gel on the ends. I have not measured my hair in about two months but my best guess is that my hair is about 9" stretched.

Hey so1913... You look great in your avatar! Love your hair!

I had a few of questions for ya... What exactly is that BBD Stretch? I've heard of it b4... Does it stretch out your hair texture?

Also, when you tie your hair up in the towel, is it just loose, pulled back, parted in the middle, or what?

after i apply my products, i pull it back into a puff and tie it down. Shoo', I'm bout to take care of that now.

Oh, sometimes I will maxiglide it, but thats rare and onlya fter letting it air dry a little bit or blow drying a little bit.

When stretched, my hair is like should leength and in some places, past shoulder length In the front, I can stretch parts to my collar bone. In June It'll be one year since my BC and two years total since my last relaxer.

Hey, I did this routine 2 weeks ago, instead I did two strand twist on dry hair. I don't like how they look on wet hair. I wore the twists for a week and then a twistout for the following week. It was cool!

I feel like I don't do shake n gos too well either. In reference to the gel, r u talking about the citre shine booster I used back in January? I would apply just a dab all over my hair in sections. Sometimes I didn't even put it all over my hair, just along my edges before applying my scarf headband. As my hair got longer, I stopped using gel, just didn't see the need for it anymore. HTH!

Btw, I like your avatar too! I've been trying to find a couple of cute lil flowers for my hair but I have a hard time deciding which ones to get! :)

Thanks lady!

BBD Stretch is a reconstructor/leave in..."stetch" refers to supporting or giving your hair more elasticity to prevent breakage, not stretching the texture :)

When I tie my hair in the towel, my hair is loose just going straight towards the back, no parts. I'll part my hair if I want one right before I brush back into the low pony puff, or if I'm doing a wash n' wear, I'll part in the shower during detangling before I do a final rinse, but do not tie up with a towel in this case. Then I just drape the towel over my head, bring the ends towards the back ov my head, twist the lose ends of the towel, then bring it toward my forehead and tuck under and go about getting ready for work.

Immediately after I have washed + conditioned I squeeze out water from the hair and add leave-in conditioner.
After that, I wrap my hair in a towel for 20-30 minutes.
Then I let it air dry without touching it.
I don't comb or brush after I have rinsed the conditioner out.

hi i usually conditon with african pride magic gro and olive oil. Then blow my hair to out ,the get my mum to braid it in two cornrows. But my hairs braided know, so i just oil the scalp and spray conditon on it.

Immediately after washing:

1) Rinse with distilled water and ACV
2) Apply Fantasia IC leave-in
3) Apply Tigi Bedhead Split Ender Mender to ends only
4) Apply MTG to scalp only(sometimes)
5) Comb hair back into ponytail and airdry/tie satin scarf around edges only
6) When hair is 85% dry remove ponytail and comb into 2 pigtails/ties scarf around edges

Most of my hair is to bottom of brastrap when stretched, the others are to top of brastrap. Actually with this method I have very little shrinkage.

I wash my hair with twists in them and a stocking cap over that to minimize frizz. I fterwards I press a towel on them with the cap still on and then after I take the cap off, I wrap a towel over the twists for about 15 min to absorb the rest of the water. Then I unwrap and go. Minimal shrinkage-minimal frizz no-re-do of twists. I am waiting for my micro-fiber towel to come in the mail and I cant wait to see how well that works.

ETA: My hair is about 9 inches streached.

Yeah, that's the gel --- I just didn't want to butcher the name :p. I'm going to have to try adding some gel next time. All I did was run my hair under the showerhead, add some conditioner, shook it and then put a head band on it.

Also, as for the flowers, a lot of the teenie bopper shops carry them (e.g. Claire's, Icing, Charlotte Russe, etc). You can also find them @ specialty shops that carry accessories and even Wal-Mart! HTH. ;)

immediately after washing I put in a leave-in, then put my hair in big braids to dry. My hair is around 9 inches stretched.

After washing, I use a leave-in, usually Salerm 21, and some coconut oil. I then air dry in two ponytails.

My hair stretches to a couple of inches below my shoulders.

Thanks for the info ladies-I'm taking notes! btw why did this get one star? Is this topic a repeat or is someone just hating?

Someone just likes to act a fool and rate 1 star for no reason :-(

any one do plopping? ive been trying and i kept getting frizzy hair after taking off the micorfiber towel. the real thing that they suggest is a t-shirt. so i tried a t-shirt today and voila!!! my curls are clumped together and i like the results

Immediately after washing my hair I dry it in one of those towel turbie's and then I add glycerin and avocado oil followed by aloe vera gel to lay down the hair and stop the shrinkage.

Someone is just hating I believe. Almost all my threads get rated one star. And this thread is such an innocent topic. I posted this topic because I'm natural and my hair is growing and wanted to see how other naturals care for their hair at different lengths after washing. I guess I should have stayed away from LHCF back when I said I would. Well, that's ok... Im not gonna let this person - who keeps rating every thread of mine as terrible - get me down. :)

Thanks for your helpful responses ladies. Take care and God bless.
