Hi Everyone!!!!!!!!

I've been lurking on these boards for about 3 weeks now and i'm so happy to finally be a member. There were sooooooooooooo many members who I just had to see their pics because they are my inspiration!!!!!!! A little about me..... I started searching the net for a solution to my youngest daughter's hair. Both my girls (age 6 and 4) have beautiful, hair past their shoulders but the youngest one's hair is THICK and Course (when dry, curly when wet) and she would bawl her eyes out when I comb it. This has been happening since she was 1. God blessed them with beautiful hair ( I always had short, thick hair since I was little) but I couldn't take the crying. She always made me feel like I was killing her!!!!!! Sometimes she would beg and beg me not to comb her hair and shamefully, sometimes i'd leave the same style in her hair for weeks (braids or canerows/cornrows) just to spare her the pain :( . Anyways, I came across Robin's forum and started a whole new venture in life. I can't remember exactly how I found this one but you can only imagine my surprise to know that I too can grow my hair long :D . Thanks to everyone here, i have been doing things so differently. Enter hair vitamins, supplements, mtg (drove for an hour and change to find a distributor on my lunch hour:perplexed ) mane and tail products etc. you name it, I bought it!!:lachen: I'm getting married in August (after 10 years and 3 beautiful children) and would love to wear my own hair. I cut my hair off about a year ago and i've been wearing it natural and braided (extensions) ever since. I miss wearing my own hair down but my hair is THIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICK!!!!!!!!! The only problem with perms was that it made my hair thin...and limp after awhile, which i now know was the result of overprocessing. So now i'm on the journey to growing my hair so I can wear it out.

Quick plug about mtg...last week after taking out my braids, i decided to texturize my hair. I bought a perm (forget which one right now) and combed it thru my hair for no more than 5 mins. then washed it out and voila....NOTHING!!!!:lachen: my hair was just as thick as before I started!! I was relieved and frustrated at the same time. I used mtg in my hair (it was cornrowed at the time) and noticed the braids becoming extremely fuzzy after a week. I took them out the redo them and noticed my hair was softer and the texture was different. My fiance even commented that my hair felt like indian hair. Anyways, i put in my cholesteral (sp) and was surprised! My hair felt flat...almost the conditioner was a relaxer???WTH???????? Long story short..i don't know if it's the mgt or msm, or what..but my texture is really different and i don't think it's the texturizer as it didn't do a thing when i initially put it in my hair.

Anyways, don't want to scare y'all with long posts but i'm a yapper!!!! I really don't know how on earth I lasted so long without a membership!!!!!!

*ahem* thanks for listening.....

:dance7: WELCOME TO THE BOARD!!!!
You'll find a lot of great information here, but let me just warn you (take it from someone who tried) you can't read everything in one day!!!:) (lord knows I tried though!)

hey all, thanks!!!!!!!! The only problem I have with these boards is that my "shopaholic" nature has now switched from clothes to hair products:perplexed . oh well, it will be worth it in the end!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Crappy thing is, here is Canada, some of these products are not available. I just had it out with this guy at the GNC here where I live because they don't have the ultra nourishair vitamins available in Canada... what??????? I told him he just lost a big sale!!!!! He just rolled his eyes at me:lol: . I was kidding but he doesn't need to know that right????

OK, well i'm off to read some more posts! I think I'm addicted to these boards. My fiance is sick and tired of me telling him about products and showing him pics of everyone's success. The nerve!! Last week, i bought this mini massage thingy at the GNC and he was like "oh, you need that to relax your tense muscles after sitting at your desk all day" and I was like "hell no, don't you see this thingy has a HAIR MASSAGE attachment" man on man, he just doesn't get it ;) anyways, i did say I was off to read, so i better get going.

:D Welcome, Welcomb!!!
... and don't worry about being chatty, we love that here;) And I for one truly understand the problem with trying to explain anything "Hair" to my husband:perplexed ..whether it's new products, jumping straight on the computer to pull up this forum, or pulling out my heating cap and now since you reminded me... I too have a scalp massager (haven't used it in a loooong while), Hmm, that'll give him something to talk about for real:lachen:

It's your journey..Have fun at it..Happy Hair Growing!

WELCOME! I'm pretty new here myself. And I'm a big talker too! I often find myself "scaling down" my posts before I click the "Submit Reply" button. I feel bad for people when I catch myself talking too much!
