Are you finding that there are some oils that have to be washed out whereas others can be left in and used to moisturize your scalp on a daily basis? For example, I can use Sweet Almond oil with essentials (like Tea-Tree, Rosemary, Peppermint, Sweet Basil) throughout scalp and/or apply Castor oil to edges every single day and my hair responds positively. In contrast, when I leave in, e.g., Olive, Sesame, Coconut oil (with or without Ayurvedic infusions like Brahmi, Bringhraj, etc.), my hair will start shedding after a day or two and continues to shed until I wash it out.

Would like to know everyone's personal experience and if anyone has come across any research.

I can leave in coconut and olive oil…but have to wash out rosemary oil and jojoba.

Some oils make my hair too greasy, so I wash them out, but I've never had an oil cause shedding. Maybe you're allergic?
