I slicked it back with Fantasia gel (on dry hair that hasnt been washed in a few days) and put my phony puff on and this older lady says oooh your hair looks nice. What you got something in your hair to soften it? And then she rubs my head. Why do I have to have something in my hair to soften it? Should I be offended?

I wouldn't be offended, people say dumb stuff all the time. You look beautiful in both your photos.:D

Thanks DLewis! You look pretty in your pic too :) Thanks BouncyCurls! I don't understand why every one feels the need to pat me on the head like a dog whenever I wear my hair like this :(

I have been asked the same thing. I think people don't think it's possible for kinky hair to be slicked down. I had someone ask me if I had a texturizer or relaxer. Don't they know that a little grease or gel, water, and a brush goes a long way. btw your puff is too cute

If she was black I'd be offended if not then it not her fault she knows no better. School her up, some people just don't know about black hair.

Thanks... Yeah they've never even seen my hair here before. I've only been here a month now. And up until this week I had a full head straight weave with bangs. I had to take it down though and I'm not getting it done over til friday so the puff's gonna be hanging out for the next few days. I think I might take it down and wash it and do it over on wet hair. It stays better that way.

ETA: She's an older black lady with a short natural herself. She looks to be a 4b.

EWWW! That's so gross! :barf: I told her I didn't have a perm in my hair. She said it looks nice though.

Yep, that's nasty.

I wouldnt be offended...just correct her ignorance with correct information

I agree. Make it a teachable moment. And respect your elders. When we make the conscious decision to take the higher road, the universe will return that good favor to us (not trying to get all cosmic this morning, but that's a spiritual principle of we get back what we put out).

And you can't fault people for noticing you! :)

bleh, maybe she just doesn't know how to moisturise her hair well and was surprised that urs didn't feel like rocks. I guess she was probably asking a genuine question. Better let her know about them sparkle lites.

Based on this, I wouldn't be offended, she probably just thought your hair looked nice and wanted some tips/ product recs.

I don't want anybody touching my hair! But like you said, they haven't seen it before so I would expect questions.

Okay so I feel better now. :) Once my supervisor came in and saw it and said I look like a little African Queen and should keep my hair like this, everybody else was like it's cute. It looks like you have a good grade of hair (I hate when people say that. :look: I like my naps.). My hair won't curl up like that blah blah blah... I feel better now. I wasn't sure what kind of reactions I was gonna get with this puff. Especially considering the fact that my mom was so against me chopping the relaxed hair. Once she got used to seeing the puff it grew on her though.

Shoot, you should probably show her your LHCF card  .

I just came in to say how pretty your puff is! I love it...suits you very well. Work it!

No. I wouldn't be offended..especially if she's an older lady. I have an older woman in my office who's as sweet as can be, but sometimes they just don't understand.

But I'm feelin' that puff, though. It looks nice.
