I'm sure you all saw my thread about the $195 for 3oz. treatment a couple of weeks ago.

I have yet another outrageously priced product. It's this Mason Pearson brush:

Is there any reason, any reason at all, that this brush is $90? Is the handle made of diamonds or platinum or something?
 
My guess would be because there are people willing to pay $90 so that they can say that they have a *Mason Pearson* brush....or that they only use *Mason Pearson* brushes :rolleyes: If no one bought them, there would be no demand and they would either lower their price or go out of business.

If you had came in and said that it made your hair grow, I'm sure someone on here would have been ordering it. :look: ...but maybe it does?
 
Ahhh, the MP brush. It's supposed to last damn near forever, it's made of natural boar bristles, and there's something else that makes it 'the Nirvana' of brushes.

:look: I can't really knock em, considering I gave in to the siren call and brought not one, not two, but THREE of their combs (which adds up to the brush, almost) - and I love them and call them George and will seriously break down and cry if I ever break one.

If I was relaxed/had straight hair, I'd be all over that brush too, sad to say. :lol:

I read somewhere that they dont have a large inventory of stuff on hand which means that its almost made when ordered. The technique is suppose to be the same as it was years ago and is still made by hand,
please dont quote me on this

I dont own on and dont think I will ever buy one

i have a little one i bought it a few years ago its held up very nicely even though its been dragged around in all of my purses for so so so long
 
This are the best brushes, it's an english thing. It has the best bristles stimulates and massages your scalp without ripping your hair out. My sister bought me one while she was in Enlgand.

I believe it is just like every other over priced item. So can people can say they have one and show how much more money they have when the could have bought stocks!
 
Bed Bath & Beyond (the ones that have a BSS within the store) they sell some brushes very similar to the Mason Pearson type. I have a small one that's really nice. I got it for around $11 with coupons. The large one is around $28 (before coupons.)
 
I got one as a b-day present from a white friend in hs. I didn't know about them b4hand so I was like this chick really got me a brush for my birthday? So I used it a couple of times and threw it away cause I was natural. But i cant blame them, I would pay that much for a Denman d4 if I had to.
 
Cindy Crawford was on Oprah a few months back and she said she has had hers for over 10 years and loves it.

$90 isn't a bad investment for something that will probably last forever.

I don't brush my hair enough to want one.

Wow, I hope you two stay in touch 'cause that's a lot of money to be spending on a friend in high school times.

Well I went to a prep school so almost everyone except me was very very comfortable. But yeah I do, and she still gives great gifts lol.
 
I am going to look for one when I go estate sale shopping. I bet I've past by one several times.:ohwell:
