Hair Coach
I have been a member of the wonderful board for 6 months now. I love you guys! I love the wealth of information that can be obtained here!

I was just thinking about all of the products that I was stuck on before I joined the board and how my opinion of those products has changed.

In the beginning, I could absolutely not live without my precious Wanakee products. They were the best products ever made for AA women. They helped me grow my hair to shoulder blade length. You couldn't tell me anything about those products if you tried I would automatically go on the defense. Nothing compared and would ever be better!

Now, 6 months later, I have since found other products that are far superior to Wanakee products and some of them are inexpensive too. I recently tried some of the Wanakee products on my hair and I was not impressed. Plus I don't even recognize half of the ingredients in her products. All I see are a bunch of chemical names I don't recognize.

I just think that it is funny how my opinions of those products have changed! What about you?

ITA. There was a time when dynamite couldn't make me let go of my Aussie Moist shampoo!

I figured, "It's called 'moist'--there has to be another reason my hair feels like dog biscuits."

my opinions changed about myself. b4 i thought i could never do my hair without the help of a stylist but thanx to you guys i see that it possible to DIY. I aslo learned that a product doesnt have to be 10 and 12 dollars for it to work. thanx to u guys i discovered suave coconut and VO5 strawberries n creamn only 88 cents and they work just as well.....love you guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I used to be very averse to buying drugstore conditioners. Now I definitely give them a chance(for conditioner washes).I still have a mindset against using them for deep conditioning tho.

I was a Creme of Nature crackhead.
Profectiv was my life.
Conditioning was against the Ten Commandments.
And grease was my baby daddy.

I was taught that wetting your hair everyday would cause it to dry out and break (nothing could be further from the truth)
I was ANTI curling irons and blowdriers, but used in moderation and used properly, these don't have to destroy your hair
I thought you had to get trims all the time to make your hair grow, ha ha ha

Washing your hair once a month would help your hair grow. Wow what an idiot. My cousins hair would grow 3/4 of an inch after washing like that. What I didn't connect was that you're hair can grow up to an inch a month whether you washed it frequently or not.

It smells a whole lot better when you wash more!

When I first came to the boards and decided to take better care of my hair, I wouldnt believe that you could have soft, shinny and not to mention boucny hair thats extremely manageable. Well now I do, and I also love the fact how not using direct heat on my hair has extremely healthy. I'm definately on the road of beautiful hair and healthy hair growth!!

I've only been on this board for about a month. but I remember back in 2002 when i thought that I would be washing the "natural" oils out of my hair if i wash more than once a week. And I never knew that cheap ol VO5 would be my staple product.... gotta love that smell.

Also I didn't care too much to read ingredient labels. Now I read ingredient labels so much that my friends think I am a chemistry major.

Before joining this board African Pride Hair Grease and
Creme Of Nature Shampoo was my hair's best friend.

I used to think that only expensive, salon products could soften my hair.

I thought that as long as I washed and conditioned my hair three times a week, I could blow dry and use my flat iron three times a week. I also thought that the only way for your hair to grow is to go get it done every other week.

No it is not. It just leaves a coating because of the stuff that leaves the hair detangled and conditioned.

Braids were the only way my hair could grow a lot(I was dead wrong) and I thought Creme of Nature was really working for me, but I was left with more tangles and not-so moisturized hair.
