Outre Velvet Remi 100% Human Hair a dry, matted mess

I thought maybe that I'd had a bad batch of hair because I have read that Outre Velvet Remi is the best hair you can buy from a Beauty Supply Store. After a second install, however, I'm running into the same problem.

Especially at the back, my hair is a dry matted mess. I can comb the hair out and it looks fine, minutes later, it bunches back up. I'm only 3 weeks into my install, not even half way through and I do not want to walk around looking life a fool by the head.

I've read about bleach baths, but I don't want to risk using bleach and amonia on hair that's actually sewed into my hair I used the ACV Treatment last install and I have to admit that there was an improvement, but it didn't "cure" it. FYI An ACV Treatment is fusing one part Apple Cidar Vinegar, 2 parts water into a spray bottle and liberally spraying throughout the hair. The hair is then covered with a plastic cap 20-30 minutes and then rinsed with cold water. The ACV is said to close the hair cuticles and make them flat. The cold water assist in closing the cuticle as well.

I was careful this install to use less heat and wrap my hair nightly as well. I get my hair washed and deep-conditioned biweekly, too.

Has anyone had a similar experience with this hair and managed to bring its dry, matted tendencies to life again?

You say this is a second install.. so it's the same hair used again? i would not be surprised then.
Not sure what to say.. I would suggest checking out the BHM forums but they frown upon BSS.
Maybe just take it out...

Once you detangle it, you can try applying a serum to the under half that rubs on your clothes and tangles. Keep a small vented brush in your purse and brush it out often. I would also stop acv treatments on the hair. I don't put any product on mine. I'm wearing Sensationnel Goddess Remy Natural Yaki and I'm not having any issues with it.

Sorry hun but the bolded answers your question. If you want hair to last for more than one install you usually have to go to a vendor that supplies human hair.

BSS hair sucks! most of it is covered in silicone that wears off before the first install is over.

As another poster said head over to BHM to get info on who the best vendors are today.

I made an investment in His and Her's Kinky straight and a year later 4(plus) install it is still kicking it I paid a pretty penny but it was worth it!

Are you using products on the weave? Some human hair does better with no products and I usually don't use products on weave/wig hair. I do use mostly bss hair and to be honest never got to the part I've read about where the silicone comes off and ish hits the fan.

I think this hair is way overpriced; to keep money in your pockets take it out and do the bleach bath. I have saved lots of hair that way. The tangles melt in the water. After that you shouldn't need much product just some serum when flatironing. I have installed his hair several times for my bestie and hers is flawless and we've never had to bleach bath it. She washes it every 3 days to keep it bouncy with lots of swing.

No, I'm not using the same hair from the last install, I'm using the same brand of hair. Also, I'm not using any product on the hair, either. Thanks for the tips!

...maybe it's the way that I'm wrapping my hair at night? I usually use a wide tooth comb or paddle brush, wrap my hair in a circle and use metal duck clamps to secure. Huuuuuh....idk ladies

I wore this hair a couple of years ago. I didn't really have any significant problems that i can recall.I even washed it a couple of times. One thing I did do was apply olive oil to it while wet... but idk. I agree with the serum tip.

That's what I do. I just use bobby pins. Try the serum and let us know how it works out.
